Darren Elias added the POWERFEST #15 High Roller title to his ever-growing list of poker-related victories in the early hours of April 19. This latest triumph came with almost $135,000 in prize money!
The tournament drew in 114 players who each paid $5,200 for the chance to become the latest POWERFEST High Roller champion. Only 20 of those starters won a slice of the $570,000 prize pool, Shawn Daniels falling in 21st place and bursting the money bubble.
Daniels’ exit locked up at least $10,000 for the surviving players. Teun Mulder, Sosia Jiang, Nick Petrangelo, Alex Foxen, Artur Martirosian, and Stephen O’Dwyer were among those who cashed. Swedish online poker legend Niklas Astedt busted in eight for $16,947 and set the official final table.
Our very own Joni Jouhkimainen was the final table’s first casualty. The Finnish Team partypoker star walked away with $20,384 for his seventh-place finish.
Linus Loeliger and high-stakes guru Timothy Adams joined Jouhkimainen on the rail, doing so with prizes worth $25,199 and $32,354 respectively. Fourth place and $43,964 went to Joakim Andersson, before Pascal Hartmann busted in third place and collected $64,143.
Hartmann’s demise left Darren Elias and Marius Gierse heads-up for the title and the tournament’s six-figure top prize. Elias, a four-time World Poker Tour champion, defeated his Austrian opponents and reeled in the $134,480 top prize. Gierse, while disappointed not to win, cannot be too unhappy with his $91,515 consolation prize.

Kelopuro is the High Roller Knockout Weekender Champion
Sami Kelopuro triumphed in the $1,575 POWERFEST #14 High Roller Knockout Weekender event and is now $81,015 richer as a result. Winning poker tournaments seems easy for Kelopuro, but this victory was tough thanks to some of thegame’s superstars being among the final 52 who made it through to Day 2.
Such luminaries as Joseph Cheong, Ami Barer, Aleksejs Ponakovs, Team partypoker’s Patrick Leonard, Samuel Vousden, and Jens Lakemeier all reached Day 2 but fell short of a final table berth.
As did Darrell Goh, Dmitry Yurasov, and Alex Foxen, the latter busting in tenth with seven seats at the final table.
Roman Sanarov and Luan Hertmann exited from the final table before Thomas Muehloecker Crashed and burned in fifth. Muehloecker’s total prize, with bounties included, came in at $25,155.
Theo Arnoldi bowed out in fourth, and Simon Mattsson’s tournament ended in a third place finish worth a combined $38,179. Kelopuro and Arnaud Enselme battled heads-up for the title of champion, a battle Kelopuro emerged victoriously from. Kelopruo scooped a total prize worth $81,015 leaving Enselme to bank $52,826.
