We love a satellite success story here at partypoker, which is why we were delighted to learn about Alexander Galchenkov‘s impressive tale. Galchenkov, who hails from Belarus, won the Legend of the Week Leaderboard 1 after starting off with a $0.22 buy-in satellite victory!
Thirty-year-old Galchenkov works hard at his job during the day, and equally as hard at the partypoker tables by night.
“I live in the city of Gomel in the Republic of Belarus. I am work in metalworking, such as supply, repair, and modernisation, and have been playing poker for around ten years,” Galchenkov told the partypoker blog.
Leaderboard 1 of the Legend of the Week revolves around the $2.20 buy-in Daily Legends tournaments, The Double Jab and The Deuce to be exact. playing in these events from Monday through Saturday earns you leaderboard points. Galchenkov got his grind on in these events and played most of them over the course of a week.
Kicking the Week Off With a Victory
“I was lucky to win The Deuce tournament on Monday, which made it easier to stay on top of the leaderboard. I played two satellites, two Double Jab and two Deuces and managed to finish in the money a few more times, which helped me win the leaderboard.”
It was his success in a $0.22 buy-in satellite that kick-started this leaderboard win. Without securing a $2.20 Deuce ticket (Galchenkov won The Deuce from this satellite) from that satellite Galchenkov may not have got his hands on the following prize:
Galchenkov is both excited and apprehensive about playing in tournaments that are much higher than his usual buy-in level.
“To be honest, it is scary to play tournaments with big buy-in, but since I won the tickets for free (thanks to partypoker), it would be a sin not to use them! My aim is to get into the money in these bigger tournaments.”
“The Legend of the Week promotion is wonderful. I have not seen any other online poker site run a similar promotion. It gives players the opportunity to hit the jackpot, which is obviously great.”
You will likely see Galchenkov at The Double Jab and The Deuce tables in the coming weeks unless he manages to win one or both of them and move up stakes.
“I had a partypoker account for a long time, but I didn’t really play much until I saw the Legend of the Week information on the stream. I started with the smallest leaderboard, qualifying for The Deuce for $0.22 and winning it. I’ll stick to proper bankroll management now, and continue to play The Deuce and Double Jab until I have 100 buy-ins for the next leaderboard level.”
