There was plenty of action taking place in the WPT World Online Championships while Gavin Cochrane was on his way to winning the 8-Max Championship event. Two members of Team partypoker were busy navigating their way to big prizes and glory, with Richard Dubini triumphing in an event and Roberto Romanello being part of a three-way chop in another.

WPT 8-Max Mini Second Chance: $100K Gtd PKO

Dubini came out on top in the WPT 8-Max Mini Second Chance PKO event, a tournament that saw $108,300 distributed across the top 104 finishers. Plenty of big names received money from the main prize pool in addition to the bounties they collected along the way.

These included Pascal Hartmann, Team partypoker’s Josip Simunic, Pavel Plesuv, Ben Dobson, and Sylvain Loosli.

British duo Dean Robb and Jonathan Clark were the eight-handed final table’s first casualties. Malta’s Petru Prepelita fell in sixth before Mario Carrascon saw his tournament end in a fifth-place finish.

Hungary’s Adam Szabo busted in fourth and heads-up was set when Stanislav Penchev from Bulgaria lost his stack in third-place.

Both Dubini and his heads-up opponent, Dzianis Hrabski, were guaranteed more than $7,500 for their efforts, but there was still the large final bounty payment to play for. Dubini got his hands on $4,737 worth of bounties when he sent Hrabski to the showers; Hrabski boosted his $7,502 winnings with a $3,022 bounty payment.

WPT #03 8-Max Mini Championship: $1M Gtd

Roberto Romanello narrowly missed out on WPT glory but came away with a massive $105,117 to show for his $320 investment.

Romanello finished second in the WPT #03 8-Max Mini Championship: $1M Gtd event but not before being part of a three-way deal that saw the final trio pad their bankrolls with six-figure scores.

Argentina’s Ivan Vilchez was the official third-place finisher and he returned home with $105,525. Romanello secured the $105,117 runner-up prize, which left British pro Daniel McAulay to become a WPT champion, an accolade that also came with a cool $118,432 prize.

In addition to this trio scooping massive prizes, some of the world’ elite grinders grabbed some of the $1 million prize pool. These included Steven Van Zadelhoff, Niklas Astedt, Benny Glaser, Ryan Riess, Robin Ylitalo, Mike Watson, Davidi Kitai, Joao Vieira, and Pascal Hartmann.
