The $1 million guaranteed WPT500 is in full swing with five of the nine flights done and dusted. Some 1,039 players have entered this massive event so far with 156 of them punching their Day 2 tickets. Nobody has accumulated more chips than Roman Matveichuk who finds himself in the envious position as the overall chip leader.

Matveichuk entered WPT500 Day 1A on March 7 along with 392 opponents. To say the Russian shone is an understatement because he turned his 500,000 starting stack into a colossal stack containing 10,131,678 betting tokens. Matveichuk is the only player, at this stage, to have armed themselves with an eight-figure stack. Others have come close, but Matveichuk’s total looks set to be the biggest going into Day 2.
Pedro Jorge was another Day 1A player who got off to a flying start. The Malta-based grinder finished their flight with 9,508,747 chips, which are enough for second-place right now.
Two other partypoker players have more than nine-million chips going into the business end of the $1 million guaranteed WPT500.
Ireland’s Richard O’Neill has 9,307,700 chips while Gustavo Mastelotto of Brazil returns to the action on March 15 with 9,130,880 chips at his disposal.
Plenty of household names have navigated their way through to Day 2. Tomas Fara (8,546,950), Andras Nemeth (7,914,935), David Peters (7,748,076), and Francois Billard (5,422,664) are just four stars to look out for on Day 2. As are such luminaries as MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event winner Justin Ouimette (5,284,560), Daan Mulders (5,001,746), Team partypoker’s Kristen Bicknell (4,302,313), Dominik Nitsche (4,295,421) and Pablo Brito Silva (3,806,218).
