Team partypoker’s Joao Simao became a POWERFEST champion for the second time in a week after he triumphed in the $2,100 POWERFEST #17-H: $200K Gtd 6-Max NL Hold’em event on January 26th.

Simao won the $50,000 Gtd PKO event on Day 4 of POWERFEST and now has banked an additional $62,561 by winning this star-studded tournament.

It was no surprise that this $2,100 buy-in POWERFEST event attracted some of the best poker players in the world to the partypoker virtual felt. Team partypoker Roberto Romanello bust in 15th place, three places outside of the money.

Some of those to finish in the top 12 and bank some prize money included “SanityWaterline,” “ADRIEN_BRODY” and our very own Richard “RichyDubini” Dubini who bust fourth for $17,500.

“RedDwarf9,” another POWERFEST champion, bust in third to leave Simao and “COCAL_GRINDER” to lock horns heads-up for the title. Our Brazilian sensation got the job done to leave the runner-up to collect $39,000 while adding $62,561 to his own bankroll.

While he was bulldozing his way to victory in the $2,100 six-max vent, Simao was bust navigating his way to the final table of the eight-handed $1,050 NL Hold’em tournament.

Simao bust in seventh-place and collected $4,240, but it was “spinner2255” who emerged victorious and when the dust had settled, his account was credited with $25,970. spinner2255’s win pushed him up to second-place in the High Leaderboard and he is now on course for a $7,500 cash prize; “Drulitooo” is the current leader.

POWERFEST Events on January 27th

Day 7 of POWERFEST, taking place on Saturday 27th January, is a massive day for the series. Three no-limit hold’em events shuffle up at deal at 12:00 ET / 17:00 GMT / 18:00 CET. These have buy-ins of $22, $215 and $2,100 and combined guarantees of $370,000.

Two hours later, a trio of six-max turbo PKO events shuffle up and deal $210,000 is guaranteed across the $11, $109 and $1,050 buy-in events.

Wrapping up Day 7 are three Ante-Up tournaments with buy-ins of $5.50, $55 and $530. The blinds remain constant in Ante-Up games but the ante increases, which makes for an interesting dynamic indeed.
