In these modern times, it is not uncommon to see female players competing in a major poker tournament; in fact we have five ladies here on Day 1B of the World Poker Tour National London Main Event.

Lucille Cailly has not been having the best of times and is down to 4,100 chips from her starting stack of 25,000. You may recall that Cailly is one of a number of players who has taken advantage of the re-entry format of this tournament.

Georgina Slegl first came to our attention in snowy Austria, where she participated in the WPT Baden Main Event. Although Slegl failed to make it into the money place in that particular tournament, she did finish second in a €330 buy-in side event for €7,170. Slegl currently has 8,325 chips.

Two of our other female competitors are seated on the same table – Table 4 – and both have around their original starting stacks. Renee Xie is armed with 27,400 while Lynne Beaumont has chips worth 21,350 chips at her disposal.

Last, but certainly not least, is Spanish sensation Ana Marquez. Ranked 63rd in the most recent Global Poker Index rankings, Marques is a marquee name and one who is already showing her class here in London. Marquez may have registered late for this tournament but that has not stopped her almost doubling her starting stack to an impressive 46,800 chips.
