The latest edition of the POWERFEST kicked off on March 15 and did so in style. More than 30 partypoker players claimed titles and although no members of Team partypoker triumphed in an event, Joao Simao came agonisingly close.
POWERFEST #02-H: $100K Gtd 8-Max
$100,000 was guaranteed in the POWERFEST #02-H: $100K Gtd 8-Max but a field of 2,100 players buying in for $109 created a $210,000 prize pool.
Each of the eight finalists guaranteed themselves $2,257, the sum collected by “Arizer” when they became the first casualty of the final table.
“TheDrino” and “MrEsprectro..” were the next to fall and they were joined on the rail by “maxsuwillans” and “Semen Suarez”, the latter banking the first five-figure prize of the tournament, namely $10,605.
“CAPN_Crunch” busted in third for a $15,960. This left “iRolledlow” and Team partypoker’s Joao “XjoaosimaoX” Simao to fight it out heads-up for the title.
Unfortunately for our hero, Simao couldn’t get the job done and fell short of yet another POWERFEST victory. Simao had to make do with the $24,717 consolation prize, leaving the champion to pad their bankroll with $35,070.

POWERFEST #09-HR: $100K Gtd PLO 6-Max PKO
Simao came close to winning for a second time on Day 2 when he reached the final table of the POWERFEST #09-HR: $100K Gtd PLO 6-Max PKO event.
Some 102 players exchanged $2,100 for 50,000 chips and a shot at glory. “Das_Mutter99” saw their tournament come to an abrupt end in sixth-place, a finish worth $5,061 plus $4,987 from the bounty prize pool.
Our hero busted in fifth-place and won a combined prize that weighed in at $18,994. This was made up with $11,550 worth of bounties. Only the champion and runner-up helped themselves to more scalps.
High stakes specialist “Junglemandan” fell in fourth for $10,421 plus $4,068. He was joined on the rail by “Carnotaurus” who banked $14,292 and an additional $9,450 from the bounty prize pool.
Heads-up saw “Raul33” and “CaptainThug” lock horns in a fight for the giant bounty payment. Despite having thug in their name, CaptainThug lost the fight and finish in second-place. This was worth a combined $42,049 while our champion scooped a total prize worth $45,219.

POWERFEST #08-HR: $300K Gtd 8-Max PKO

Another $2,100 buy-in event smashed its guarantee thanks to 201 players buying in. This created a $412,050 prize pool that was divided up half among the top 32 finishers and half on the heads of each entrant.
Team partypoker pro Jeff “JeffGross” Gross fell in 23rd place with Ludovic “Gr4vyBo4t” Geilich busting in 14th.
Patrick “Patrick_Leonard” Leonard burst the final table bubble when he was eliminated in ninth-place, but not before scooping a combined $5,939.
“MrDatt”, “TheNuts21” and “StrawberryGirl” all hit the showers in quick succession. “Junglemandan” joined them after he ran out of luck in fifth-place. Junglemandan excels in these high stakes events having previously won the Big Game and partypoker MILLION on the same day! This latest result netted him $20,090.
Our very own Anatoly “NL_Profit” Filatov had to console himself with a total of $27,567 after his impressive run ended in a fourth-place finish.
Filatov gained some company on the rail when “aaaaaaaaaa” busted in third for $44,503. This prize was slightly larger than the $43,324 “jiggidyigjohn” banked for finishing in second-place thanks to the monster-sized bounty payment aaaaaaaaaa collected.
Our champion, and recipient of $70,557, in this event was every blogger’s nightmare thanks to this alias: “kgroqigmqtbmqom”. Congratulations to them!
