After watching the crazy outfits and antics of the French Canadian rail at the WSOP Main Event final table this month, I have high hopes for WPT Montreal! If I don’t see at least one green leotard or some sort of green farm animal on the rail, I’m going to be very disappointed indeed.
Eye Catching!
And it wasn’t just their outfits that were eye-catching. The Quebecois rail (there to cheer on their own Marc-Etienne McLoughlin) seemed to have a chant for every occasion. The crowd favourite happened whenever McLoughlin was in the big blind. This rumbling noise would start to build until the whole room seemed to be shouting “La-rry Walk-er (clap clap, clap clap clap)” Larry Walker is the name of a famous Canadian baseball player but it also seemed to have an almost hypnotic effect on the players at the table who ended up giving Marc-Etienne a walk in the big blind, over and over again.
Mixing It Up A Bit!
Poker is a serious pursuit and for many people, a day at the poker tables is a day at the office. This is right and as it should be for a lot of people but you can’t deny that sometimes it’s a fun change to see professionals mix it up and enjoy themselves, creating a great atmosphere for the players and the fans alike.
I’m hoping that the partypoker Premier League takes advantage of it’s stop in Montreal this month to showcase some really high level poker in an exciting and fun-filled atmosphere. If there is a green cow in the audience at some point, do NOT be surprised. ~ Kara Scott
