1. Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari – Ranked number one in the all-time money listings. We caught up with Esfandiari and asked him for his thoughts about the upcoming Premier League: “Very excited to be playing in the Premier League again – even more excited that its in Montreal at the Playground. Love Canada!“ Last time around in Premier League VI we saw Esfandiari finish in 3rd and cashing for $150,000!
2. Dan Shak
The reigning partypoker Premier League champion. Can he defend his successfully defend his title?
“I am thrilled to be back to defend my partypoker Premier League title in Montreal – I really enjoyed the unique format and the win last time out and it will, undoubtedly, remain a big highlight of my poker career. The chance to repeat is a major thrill for me and I cannot wait.”
3. Phil Laak
Phil Laak – “The Unabomber” has a World Poker Tour and a partypoker World Open 5 title to his name. We caught up with him for a few words and he told us (very excitedly) that “The Premier League is awesome. And Montreal is awesome! Massively stoked for this event….!”
4. Vanessa Selbst
“I had so much fun playing the Premier League in 2011 – it’s such a fun, innovative, and mentally-challenging structure. I’m excited it has come to North America and thrilled to be able to play it again, especially in a new short-handed format.”
5. Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver – Winner of partypoker Premier League 5. Seiver also has a World Series of Poker bracelet and has won the WPT World Championship, too.
6. Daniel “Jungleman” Cates
The high stakes online legend finished as runner up to Seiver in season 5. Can he make amends this time around?
“The last season of partypoker Premier League was certainly eventful for me and it is great to be back for a second time for a crack at the title.”
7. Jason Koon
One of the in-form players of the moment both online and live. Can the muscleman power his way to victory in Montreal?
8. Jeff Gross
Flush with cash after his tattoo prop bet. Gross also has a superb record at the Playground Poker Club: “So excited to be playing in the Party Poker Premier League! It is a great honor to be invited and compete with many of the top players in the game. This is a very prestigious title and thrilled it is at Playground Poker which is my favorite venue to play poker at. Montreal is world class city and I will be counting down the days until November 20th!!”
9. Sorel Mizzi
The often controversial Canadian will be looking to win a major poker title in his home country.
10. Daniel Colman
Hugely feared by line-up ‘Mrgr33n13’ – rumoured to have won over $2 million in last year after leaving US. The reaction of pros Seiver, Koon and Selbst is that he has further strengthened line-up. This is a beast who we are yet to see in live environment and big opportunity for him to show skills.
11. Jonathan Duhamel
“I’m particularly pleased to participate in this new edition of Premier League Poker. I had a blast last year and I’m motivated to face all these great players again. The fact that the league is held in Montreal this year makes the experience all the more exciting to me. I’m sure it will be a memorable edition!”
12. Brian Rast
Has two WSOP bracelets including the $50,000 Poker Players Championship.
Last night partypoker treated the 12 Premier League 7 guests to a lavish party at the fantastic W Hotel that’s found just downtown in Montreal. In between the chit chat partypoker’s very Kara Scott and Jesse May held a draw to determine just who would be facing who in the upcoming heats in the Premier League VII. Each participant was assigned one of 12 cards represented by a spot throughout the various heats of the tournament.
