Preben Stokkan is enjoying a purple patch of form online at PartyPoker, The United Kingdom-based Norwegian high-stakes specialist leads the 2022 MILLIONS Online Main Event only days after outlasting 252 opponents in MILLIONS Online #14 Closer PKO. Stokkan got his hands on $73,423 of the $379,500 prize pool.
Day 2 of the $1,575 buy-in $300,000 guaranteed Closer PKO saw 37 players return to the PartyPoker tables. The Day 2 read like a who’s who of the online poker world, as you would expect from such a prestigious tournament.
On the way to the eighth-handed final table, the likes of Christopher Frank, Alexandros Theologis, Andras Nemeth, Jans Arends, and Team PartyPoker’s Patrick Leonard all fell by the wayside. Brazil’s Eder Campana was the ninth-place finisher and the player that burst the final table bubble.
Philippe D’Auteuil and Tauan Neves were the first two players who fell at the final table and the only pair of stars that walked away with less than a five-figure haul for their effort.
The players at the final table breathed a sigh of relief when Niklas Astedt bowed out in sixth, before the eliminations of Francois Billard and Thomas Santerne left only a trio of players in the hunt for the title and the lion’s share of the prize pool.
The final three became two when Daniel Jackson of the United Kingdom crashed out. Jackson collected a total prize worth $26,831. Heads-up pitted Stokkan one-on-one with Austria’s Alexander Tkatschew, and Stokkan got the job done. Stokkan secured the title and $73,423, leaving Tkatschew to head into the cold of the night with $35,756 in tow.

Zanoni Takes Down the Mini Closer PKO Event For $21,736
MILLIONS Online #15 Mini Closer PKO proved popular with the 1,184 entrants creating a $177,600 prize pool, which was much larger than the advertised $100,000 guarantee. Only 177 of those starters made it to Day 2 and locked up a $158 min-cash in addition to any bounties they collected along the way.
Daniel Wilson, Michael Gathy, Jack Sinclair, Tomi Brouk, Steven Van Zadelhoff, Christian Rudolph, Gianluca Speranza, and Jakob Miegel were among the Mini Closer PKO player to cash yet fall short of a final table appearance.
The top three finishers, with bounties included, saw their $162 investment turn into a five-figure score. Jesse Wigan, Matheus Almedia, Roman Pavliak, and Connor Spratt crashed out in positions eighth through fourth and won between $2,987 and $5,680.
Malta’s Manuel Carvalho collected $12,085 for his third place finish, which left Arthur Thiriart and Carlos Zanoni heads-up for the title. Both players were guaranteed more than $11,300 from the main prize pool, but the final bounty payment was in excess of $10,000 so there was still plenty on the line. Brazil’s Zanoni defeated his final opponent and reeled in a $21,736 score, leaving Thiriart to bank an $11,820 consolation prize.
