PartyPoker player Uptheladder1 from Canada is the latest qualifier to the upcoming World Poker Tour in Venice, Italy. Check out his story:
What route did you take to the final WPT Venice Satellite?
Won $40 to the $375 and then won $375 to the event on second try; had finished 5th the week before with 3 seats available.
Tell me how the final WPT Satellite went. What were the key moments?
Made some very good decisions; both in terms of hands played and folds. Getting deep in tournaments always seems to require a healthy balance of patience, good luck, big folds and sound decision making.
Tell me about your PartyPoker story.
Have been playing with PartyPoker on and off for a few years; prefer to play live but access in Canada to live play requires travel so PartyPoker offers a secondary option. The software is as realistic to live play of all the sites on the internet and the tournament structures allow for poker to be played as opposed to a “shove fest” so I prefer it over the balance of the options on the net.
What do you think about WPT?
Certainly have watched the WPT on TV so am excited about my first WPT event. As a poker hobbyist, and after playing some other live events, it was always a goal to add the WPT to my experiences/resume.

Any poker players you would love to meet and play against at WPT Venice?
Just happy to attend and be able to visit Italy. Would be nice to meet Kara Scott and Mike Sexton; Sexton is such a gentleman and a great ambassador for poker. Felipe Ramos and I played at the LAPT Punta Del Este and clashed several times; be nice to say hello again! Amongst favorite players, probably Antonio Esfandiari and Daniel Negreanu would top my list; both tend to be chatty at the tables just like me.
