8 Rodrigo Seiji Sirichuk Brazil $97,471
9 Joao Simao Brazil $76,713

The final table commenced at 19:05 BST on September 14 and it did not take long for the first player to bust. Team partypoker’s Joao Simao sat down with less than ten big blinds and he could not improve his position.

Simaa bowed out during the 500,000/1,000,000/125,000a level when he open-shoved for 6,180,261 with and David Peters called with the superior . The five community cards ran to send our Brazilian hero home in ninth.

Eighth place and $97,471, the tournament’s last five-figure prize, went to another Brazilian, Rodrigo Seiji. Peters min-raised to 2,400,000 with before calling the 14,385,968 shove from Seiji in the small blind. Seiji flipped over and lost courtesy of the board.

A sick hand during the 600,000/1,200,000/150,000a level reduced the player count by two. Manuel Fritz raised to 3,480,000 with leaving himself only 786,764 chips behind. Vlad Darie called the shove with only for Talal Shakerchi to squeeze all-in for 10,135,294 from the button with [Ax]. Fritz called off the last of his chips, and Darie tossed in calling chips.

Darie flopped the nuts when the first three community cards fell ! The inconsequential turn and river sent both Fritz and Shakerchi to the sidelines.

The field grew shorter with the elimination of Philipp Hofbauer who min-raised to 2,400,000 with preflop. Peters woke up with and three-bet to 7,200,000. Hofbauer responded with a 12,000,000 four-bet, and Peters called. The flop saw Hofbauer lead for 5,500,000, and Peters called. Hofbauer shoved for 18,600,000 on the turn, and Peters quickly called. The completed the board, and confirmed Hofbauer’s demise.

The final four became three when Bruno Volkmann headed for the exits. Peters opened to 3,100,000 with and Volkmann defended his big blind with . Peters flopped gin on the flop. Volkmann checked, Peters bet 1,400,000, and Volkmann check-raised all-in for 10,244,934. Obviously, Peters called. The turn completed Volkmann’s straight but the river improved Peters to a full house!

Heads-up was set when start-of-the-day chip leader Darie busted. Peters raised to 3,080,000 on the button with , Darie shoved all-in for 27,492,909 from the small blind with , and Gostisa re-shoved for 53,643,274 with , and Peter folded. By the river the board read , and Gostisa’s set won the pot.

That hand gave Gostisa 84,741,183 chips but he still trailed the monster stack of 151,058,817 chips of Peters.

Everything went Gostisa’s way during the one-on-one battle and he drew level before forging a lead for himself. The final hand stunned Peters.

Peters raised 2.5-times the big blind to 5,000,000 with , Gostisa three-bet to 20,000,000 with , and Peters called. Peters improved to a set on the flop and a double-up looked on the cards. Gostisa shoved into the 40,500,000 pot and Peters instantly called off his 69,943,817 stack. The kept Peters ahead, but the river was the to, a two-outer for Gostisa!

Peters had to make do with the $660,482 runner-up prize while Gostisa became the 2021 WPTWOC Main Event champion and recipient of a massive $959,492 cash payout.
