It’s a new year and many of you will have made a poker-related resolution to play more live poker during 2019. With this in mind, we have looked at five of the best live poker venues in the world. Which is your favourite?
Sun, sea, sand and erm scintillating poker action are the order of the day in the more picturesque poker location the partypoker LIVE tour has ever visited. Baha Mar, Nassau, Bahamas boasts of a 100,000 square foot casino with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the inviting turquoise blues of the ocean and resort pools.
The Grand Hyatt, Baha Mar was the home to the 2018 Caribbean Poker Party where Filipe Oliveira walked away with a gargantuan $1.5 million for his victory after he topped a field of 1,815 in the $5,300 buy-in Main Event.
We made two other partypoker players millionaires in the Main Event, namely Craig Mason of the United States and Ireland’s Marc MacDonnell who finished second and third respectively to bag scores of $1.2 million and $1 million.
Will you be joining us for some poker in paradise in 2019?
Dusk Till Dawn
Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, United Kingdom is often called “the home of British poker”, an accolade it more than deserves.
The casino is the home to the UK’s largest dedicated poker room with a capacity of 500 players in its standard form and the ability to extend the capacity during major events such as last year’s MILLIONS UK and the 2019 World Poker Tour UK festival.
Some of the biggest poker tournaments ever held in the United Kingdom have taken place at DTD, including the 2018 partypoker MILLIONS UK Main Event, a £5,300 buy-in affair that attracted 1,015 players through its doors. This huge event ended in a heads-up chop between Ioannis Angelou-Konstas and American superstar William Foxen who returned home with £940,000 and £720,000 in their suitcases.
Perhaps the most appealing feature of DTD is the fact owner Rob Yong and his amazing staff have never lost focus on DTD’s beginnings and its core customers. While running huge tournaments is great for the poker community, DTD also hosts low stakes events with buy-ins from £20 to keep the grassroots poker scene alive and thriving.
Another cavernous poker room can be found on the Czech Republic – Germany border at King’s Casino in Rozvadov. The casino has garnered a reputation for being the best gamblers paradise outside of Las Vegas thanks to the guidance of owner Leon Tsoukernik who can be found playing in the biggest tournaments and nosebleed cash games.
King’s Casino has hosted some incredible events over the past few years, including several partypoker LIVE Grand Prix tournaments that have €220 buy-ins but €500,000 guaranteed prize pools despite the low entry fee.
Past winners of Grand Prix events include Ondrej Lon who turned €220 into €84,686, Michal Cep who banked €86,300 and Niklas Ehrenholz who won a €550 buy-in version of the Grand Prix Rozvadov for a bankroll-boosting €185,807.
Playground Poker Club
The Playground Poker Club is widely accepted as being the premier poker destination for players in North America. Located less than 20-minutes from downtown Montreal, Playground Poker Club has hosted dozens of major live poker events since opening its doors in 2010.
Everyone who has played a partypoker LIVE event at Playground Poker Club have enjoyed the experience, perhaps none more than Taylor Black who turned a PP LIVE Dollars satellite victory into a massive CAD$1,400,000 prize by triumphing over 1,953-opponents in the MILLIONS Main Event held in April 2018.
Taylor became a millionaire overnight alongside runner-up Darryll Fish (CAD$1,200,000) and third-place finisher Anthony Ruberto (CAD$1,000,000).
Playground Poker Club is holding several gigantic festivals during 2019, including the World Cup of Cards, MILLIONS North America, WSOP-C Montreal and WPT Montreal. We hope to see you there.
Sochi, Russia is a fantastic poker destination and one that is unique. You can visit the beach and go skiing during the same day at certain times of the year thanks to the one-of-a-kind climate and location.
Casino Sochi is a luxurious venue with state-of-the-art facilities, including 569 slots and 70 gaming tables. Away from the tables you’ll find some of the best restaurants found in Russia, can ship until you drop in some fantastic boutiques, chill out at the cabaret or relax in the spa.
Team partypoker’s Anatoly Filatov has fond memories of Sochi having taken down the MILLIONS Russia Main Event last August for 60 million rubles, or approximately $944,000, on home soil.
