The $5 million guaranteed partypoker LIVE MILLIONS South America Main Event takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from March 18-24 so it is the perfect time to take a look at five of the best Brazilian poker players from the live and online arena.

Joao Simao

Brazil's Joao Simao

Joao Simao

Our very own Team partypoker member Joao Simao is widely regarded as one of the best Brazilian poker players to have ever been pitched cards and it is easy to see why this is the case.

Simao has more than $8.3 million in online poker tournament winnings, including almost $2.65 million from partypoker tournaments alone. His was ranked first in the world for online poker tournaments back in 2016 and has been consistently in the top 25 in the world, according to PocketFives.com.

He also has over $2.5 million in live poker tournament winnings, enough to place his third in Brazil’s all-time money listings. Should he cash at MILLIONS South America, he’d likely overtake Felipe Tavares Ramos in second-place as Simao only trails his countryman by $56,312.

Bruno Volkmann

The current number one, at time of writing, Brazilian online poker tournament player is Bruno “brunovolks” Volkmann who is 22nd in the worldwide standings, although he was ranked 16th in the world during 2018.

Volkmann has amassed more than $4.4 million in online poker tournament cashes, with more than $650,000 of this impressive total stemming from his play at partypoker. Volkmann took down the $300,000 guaranteed Title Fight at partypoker in April 2017 for $46,237 and is a POWERFEST champion having triumphed in the POWERFEST #102-HR: $200K Gtd PKO event in September 2018 for $36,810.

Unlike many of his Brazilian peers, Volkmann is not a regular in major live poker events around the world. He currently have five recorded live cashes worth a combined $62,189. We wonder if Volkmann will play in the MILLIONS South America Main Event with it being on home soil.

Alexandre Gomes

Brazil's Alexandre Gomes

Alexandre Gomes

It would be unfair to not include Brazil’s current number one all-time money winner, Alexandre Gomes, not least because he has almost $3.7 million in live poker tournament winnings, an addition $1.77 million in online cashes, but because he was the first Brazilian to win a World Series of Poker bracelet.

Gomes got his hands on a coveted WSOP bracelet in 2008 when he won a $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament for $770,540. The popular pro also secured a World Poker Tour Main Event title in 2009 when he took down the $15,400 Bellagio Cup V in Las Vegas for what’s still his biggest cash to date, $1,187,670.

Should Gomes enter the $10,300 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS South America Main Event, he is sure to be a formidable opponent for anyone who faces him.

Cassio Pisapia De Almeida Kiles

Another Brazilian poker player who plys their trade predominately online is Cassio Pisapia de Almeida Kiles from Sao Paulo. Kiles, often better-known as “cassiopak” was ranked as highly as 22nd in the world for online poker tournaments in 2018 thanks in part to having won more than $3.3 million in the online arena.

Kiles’ biggest online score came in May 2017 and weighed in at a huge $268,710. He got his hands on this incredible sum after topping a field of 1,590-players in the $1,050 buy-in POWERFEST #295- Main Event: $1M Gtd High Roller at partypoker.

In the live poker scene, Kiles has accumulated $303,000 in poker tournament cashes, the majority of which coming from competing in his native Brazil. Will Kiles be present in the MILLIONS South America Main Event?

Geraldo Cesar Neto

Geraldo Cesar Neto of Santa Catarina in Brazil has been ranked as highly as 34th in the world by PocketFives.com and has more than $3.7 million in online cashes. One of his largest online cashes is worth $33,631, his prize for winning a $100K Gtd Bouty Hunter High Roller at partypoker, where he is known as “Batebicoplz”. Neto also banked $29,035 by being the runner-up in a $200K Gtd KO Series event in February 2019.

Neto has $125,011 in live poker tournament winnings, too. Most of this sum is from his 30th place finish in the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS World at the 2018 Caribbean Poker Party that saw him pad his bankroll with $75,000.
