It’s been a little while since my last blog post. Since then I’ve been taking it easy and trying to get myself in a good mindset for the Aussie Millions.

I’ve kept the poker playing to a minimum, although, I did go reasonably deep in the APPT Grand Final in Sydney.

In that, I busted in around 30th place when I got it in with [9x][9x] to Daniel Negreanu’s [Qx][Qx]. I had a short medium stack leading all the way into the money and I thought I played pretty well through the tournament.

Currently, I’m back in Melbourne almost a year on from winning the big one. It’s been quite a year to say the least.

Playing big tournaments all over the world has been a great experience and I’d like to say that I’ve loved every minute of it, but I don’t think that’s possible in tournament poker – so, I’ll say that I’ve loved almost every minute of it.

Looking at the past year it would have been great to have had another big score, but I don’t have any complaints. I think I’m playing pretty well and my game’s definitely improved, especially my live game.

Spending more time at the tables and thinking about hands differently has given me some good insights into my own game and how poker’s evolved over the past couple years. I’m feeling confident with my game at the moment and think that I’m playing as well as ever.

I haven’t had much success in any of the side events so far, but, I haven’t really had any success in any side events through the whole year so I’m not reading too much into that. I tend to do much better in main events, which I guess is a good thing.

I’d love to add some more Aussie Millions jewellery to the collection. It definitely feels good to be back and I always tend to do well in places where I’ve done well before, so hopefully I can make it count for the 2011 Aussie Millions.
