POWERFEST #122-SHR: $3M Gtd Championship Event
- Buy-in: $25,500
- Entries: 156
- Prize pool: $3,900,000
- Places paid: 20
Steve “eet_smakelijk” O’Dwyer secured the largest online cash of his illustrious career to date when he outlasted 155 opponents in the POWERFEST #122-SHR: $3M Gtd Championship Event.
A field of 156 players created a $3,900,000 prize pool that was shared among the top 20 finishers. Our very own Anatoly “NL_Profit” Filatov fell in 22nd place to narrowly miss out on a cash. “JgsNV” was the unfortunate soul to burst the money bubble.
The 20 in-the-money players each received at least $60,450 for their effort and this increased to $117,000 by the time the eight-handed final table was reached.
Team partypoker’s Jason “Jason_Koon” Koon was the final table’s first casualty and he was followed to the rail by “nipa3p3” an “jizonhisniz” who banked $147,420 and $185,250 respectively.
Fifth-place went to the reigning MILLIONS Online champion Jon “sordykrd” Van Fleet, a finish worth $234,000. “Shlongoperator” collected $331,500 for their fourth-place finish and when British star Michael “mczhang” Zhang busted in third-place for a $468,000 score, heads-up was set.
O’Dwyer and “orpenkk” locked horns in what was essentially a $253,110 heads-up battle, yet no deal was struck to make the payjump less severe. This meant when orpenkk busted in second-place, they collected $643,500, which left O’Dwyer to bank a massive $896,610 prize.
Eet_smakelijk, O’Dwyer’s partypoker screen name, is Dutch for “enjoy your meal.” Bon appétit indeed, sir.
