Day 1 of the $40 million guaranteed POWERFEST kicked off on Sunday 6th May with the first 30 of 366 scheduled events.
Getting the festival off to a flying start were three $1 million guaranteed Championship Events, which helped us paid out almost $6.3 million in prize money on the opening day of POWERFEST.

POWERFEST #03-SHR: $1M Gtd Championship Event PKO

The biggest prize of the day went to “alex2pairs” who added a massive $233,404 to their partypoker bankroll thanks to winning the POWERFEST #03-SHR: $1M Gtd Championship Event PKO for a total of $233,304.
Thirty-two of the 196 entries were paid with a min-cash being worth $5,100. Team partypoker’s Isaac “ike_haxton” Haxton (61st), Patrick “Patrick_Leonard” Leonard (55th) and Roberto “WelshWizard” Romanello (37th) fell short of the money, but Joao “joaosimaobh” Simao finished in 26th place for $5,100 and $8,612 for sending three opponents to the rail.
Prizes at the final table started at $11,279, but there were also some substantial bounties on the heads of the eight finalists.
Fourth-place finisher “mask0ff_” sent 10 opponents to the showers and banked $20,475 in bounty payments alone. Mask0ff_ also collected $38,251 in prize money.
Heads-up saw alexpairs lock horns with “TorTor2012”. No deal was struck, despite the different in prize money being more than $27,000 plus bounties, so when alex2pairs eliminated TorTor2012, they won $99,992 from the prize pool and a huge $133,412 from bounties! TorTor2012 didn’t do badly for themselves either, winning $72,579 in prize money and $32,418 from bounties.

The POWERFEST #04-HR: $1M Gtd Championship Event saw 1,703 players exchange $50 for the chance to win a share of a million dollar prize pool. Some 216 players received prize money for their effort with Team partypoker’s Renato “renatonomura” Nomura finishing in 87th place for $2,100 and Johnny “JLoHarada” Lodden falling in 72d place for $2,400.
Everyone at the eight-handed final table was guaranteed $11,800, which is the sum “Number_NInjas” collected. One by one the players fell by the wayside until only “hamischc2” and “sk2ll_m0dR” remained. The jump in prizes were substantial so it was nu surprise they struck a deal for the remaining prize pool.
Hamishc2 walked away with $143,525 and second-place with sk2ll_m0dR collecting $144,874, the title of champion and the winner’s trophy that all Championship Event winners get their hands on.

POWERFEST #05-HR: $1M Gtd Championship Event PKO

The third Championship Event of the day was POWERFEST #05-HR: $1M Gtd Championship Event PKO which saw 999 players create a prize pool of $1,018,980 thanks to us removing the rake from the bounty element of PKO events.
Only Roberto “WelshWizard” Romanello of Team partypoker made it into the money places. Roberto finished in 116th place for $1,248.
Everyone who reached the final table would have been a worthy champion, but tournament poker dictates only one player can win. That winner was “MonkMode” who scooped $85,914 in prize money and an additional $69,519 for busting 11 opponents on their way to victory. “Ignent” was the runner-up and won $14,553 in bounty payments and $61,538 in prize money.
Shout-out to “JJouhki” at the final table who finished fifth for $19,330 but thanks to sending 13 opponents to the showers, the most of any player in the tournament, also grabbed $27,486 in bounty payments, which goes to show how profitable PKO events can be.
