The 2020 Irish Open continued online at partypoker on April 9 and it was another superb day of intense poker action. Two more champions were crowned and the Irish Open Main Event completely obliterated its €1 million guarantee with two starting flights remaining!

2020 Irish Open Event #11: €25,000 Gtd Ladies

Eighty-two ladies bought into the €25,000 guaranteed Ladies event and it was Daria Krashennikova who was the last woman standing. Krashinnikova turned her €215 investment into a more substantial €6,625.

Germany’s Mirjam Tewes was the first of the eight finalists to lose their chips. Eighth-place in this event was worth €875. Karen Muir and Elizabeth Bennett joined Tewes on the rail, doing so with prizes of €1,062 and €1,312 respectively.

UK-based American Kelly Ann Saxby was the fifth-place finisher, a finish worth €1,750 before Kimberley Kilroy of Canada fell by the wayside in fourth for a €2,250 addition to her bankroll.

Next to fall was New Zealand’s Sosia Jiang who collected €3,250. It’s been a profitable few days for Jiang as she won the €50,000 Gtd Hendon Mob Championship earlier in the week for €18,381.

Jiang’s exit left team partypoker’s Kristen Bicknell and Krashennikova to battle for the €6,625 top prize. Krashennikova got the job done and resigned Bicknell to the €4,625 consolation prize.

Speaking to the Russian partypoker blog after her victory, Krashennikova said, “It was one of the most important wins in my career. In terms of prize money it won’t be one of the highest, but emotionally it was one of the best. I love Ladies events. I think that the best male players are playing better than us, so it is harder to battle with them. In ladies events, it feels like we are all even, so I get an extra thrill. And also this particular event was a special one, there were plenty of very good players. And of course Kristen Bicknell it is not the opponent you would love to see in the heads-up, so I am happy I managed to emerge victoriously. As far as I understood even though it was online event, I still will get my Irish Open trophy send to me.

“I love playing tournaments with real names. I think this is a great idea and would love to see it more in the future.”

2020 Irish Open Main Event Smashes Its Guarantee

This year’s Irish Open Main Event features a €1 million guaranteed prize pool but it looks like players will be getting their hands on more than twice that impressive sum thanks to the incredible support of the event by you.

Day 1A drew in a crowd of 831 which put us 83% of the way towards the guarantee. Last night’s Day 1B saw another 793 entries, taking the total prize pool to €1,624,000 with two more Day 1s still in the pipeline! Wow, is all we can say right now.

Ireland’s Vincent McNamee is the name at the top of the Day 1B chip counts. The Irishman turned his 30,000 starting stack into a flight-leading 325,994. McNamee was the only Day 1B player to finish with more than 300,000 chips. His stack is enough for second-place overall after two flights.

Simon Higgins, fresh from a €50,820 score for a runner-up finish in the €200,000 guaranteed High Roller, finished Day 1B with 230,833 chips in front of him. The British player now has a legitimate chance of Irish Open Main Event glory.

Also finishing in the top 10 chip counts were the likes of Rui Ferreira (198,493), Conor O’Driscoll (185,007), and Patrick Brooks (183,083).

Other names who punched their Day 2 tickets included Henri Buhler, Alemdin Imsirovic, and Michael Tureniec. Praz Bansi, Eoghan O’Dea, Dario Sammartino, Anton Wigg, Patrick Leonard, Jaime Staples, and Dominik Nitsche also progressed.

Day 1C starts at 20:00 CET on April 10 with a turbo-structured Day 1D scheduled for 18:00 CET on April 11; Day 2 starts two hours later.
