Gruissem won an event in the Caribbean in 2013 and will be hoping for a repeat performance here. The Germany pro’s victory in the $100,000 buy-in WPT Alpha8 in St. Kitts banked him $1,086,400. Victory in the 2019 Caribbean Poker Party Main Event will yield and even larger prize. He is in a good position to take down this huge event as he returns to the tables with 24,175,000 chips, enough for second-place.

Several of Gruissem’s partypoker pro teammates have also locked up at least $20,000 for their efforts thus far. Dzmitry Urbanovich is the best place of them thanks to accumulating 14,625,000 chips. Isaac Haxton bought in at the start of Day 2 and turned his 1,000,000 chips into 6,950,000, while Ludovic Geilich (5,175,000), and Kristen Bicknell (3,200,000) are also safely through.

Scott Margereson leads the way with 38,350,000 chips and is going to take some stopping. The British pro now resides in Mexico and is a phenomenal player, one with more than $1.8 million in live tournament winnings and an additional $5.18 million online.

The rest of the field reads like a who’s who of the poker world. Dutchman Jorryt van Hoof (23,000,000) is third in chips with Spain’s Sergi Reixach (22,875,000) in fourth. Chris Hunichen, winner of the $25,500 Super High Roller at the 2017 Caribbean Poker Party, has 19,000,000 chips and returns in fifth-place.
