In less than a week we’ll be leaving the WPT Paris heading off to Malta for some serious fun in the sun! This €3,300 tournament with re-entry on Day 1B with such pros that are expected to play including Vanessa Selbst, Jonathan Duhamel, Fabrice Soulier, Jason Mercier, Ronnie Bardah and WPT Champions Club member Marvin Rettenmaier, the only player in WPT history to win back-to-back events.

Faced Paced Action!

The WPT Malta which is of course presented by our good friends WPTPoker.com will start this weekend at the fantastic Casino at Portomaso, St Julians. As well as some serious faced paced action on the felt get ready for a unique ‘triathlon’ to be held between poker foes Phil Hellmuth and Tony G.

Bad Blood?

It’s no news about the bad blood between the pair but extraordinarily both players have agreed to take part in a unique ‘triathlon.’ And so over the course of the week both Phil and Tony will be competing in three disciplines: swimming, bike-riding and three-point basketball shooting. A simple question for you all at home now – Is this something you want to see? Hell Yeah!

I’m surprised Phil accepted them!

We caught up with Tony G who of course is the PartyPoker Ambassador and he told us: “I suggested these three disciplines and am surprised Phil accepted them. It’s not as if I have been at the Olympics with the Lithuanian National basketball team is it? I have the edge in basketball. He may have a chance at the bike-riding though because he is sent on his bike frequently. As for swimming, unless he is attached to the backside of Michael Phelps like he usually is I feel I am favourite.”

Sounds good to me!

Phil Hellmuth said: ”Swimming, bike-riding and three-point shooting sound good to me, although I’m pretty rusty. I loved Malta last year and am looking forward to going back again especially as we are doing some cool stuff like a triathlon!” The side action bets will be finalised on-site with more information to be released nearer the time.

Tony G tells Kristy Arnett about his upcoming triathlon versus Phil Hellmuth which is sponsored by WPTPoker.com. The two will play basketball, bike, and swim, and it’s all going down next week at WPT Malta:

So if you like the WPT circuit as much as we do then make sure you tune in for our live WPT Malta coverage which starts on Sunday 16 September here on the PartyPoker Blog.
