I walk into the room and it’s not tough to figure out where table White 105 is.
There are spectators scattered throughout, but midway through the center of the room they are four deep on the rail with a camera crew and boom mike hovering.
Nine no-names at the table but no one cares because in the six seat sits Tom “durrrr” Dwan. I arrive over as he calls an under the gun raise from middle position.
Dwan has got about 32k from a 30k starting stack, a marked improvement from the 18k or so he was down to earlier, according to his Twitter feed.
Something to do with a prop bet that Tom Dwan won or lost
Tom wears a black warm-up jacket and a grey smiley face t-shirt, both thick with sponsor patches, plus an oversized button with a picture of a poker player named Peter Jetten hugging a koala bear that has something to do with a prop bet that Tom Dwan won or lost.

Tom “Durrrr” Dwan has a lot of prop bets. He wears an iPod and rests the side of his head on his palm. His eyelids look heavy and down low, confirmation of the manic nature of his last six weeks. It’s been a busy WSOP for Durrrr, and it’s nearing the end.
If reports are true, Dwan stood to make in the region of 12 million dollars on top of the prize money should he grab a bracelet in 2010, and damn didn’t he get close. When he got heads up in a no limit event after wading through three thousand people, the big names stewing themselves on the rail spoke to the fact that he had the entire high stakes poker community by the shorts.
He let me accompany him to his trailer for an interview
Alas it was not to be that night, but Durrrr didn’t seem a bit ruffled by the result. His character is nothing but Mr. Cool to the extreme, a guy who prides himself on playing perfect poker no matter the stakes, the hours, the game, or his results.
On a break, he let me accompany him to his trailer for an interview. Out the back door, a few RV’s are parked in the lot, like the headliners for a rock concert. Dwan, Negreanu, Ivey. They are the stars and we are the groupies.
Inside the truck Dwan is friendly, candid, and easygoing, belaying none of the stress of this Vegas marathon. As usual, I hang on his every word. He has no problem summing up his last two months with one sentence and his patented wry smile. “It would have been a lot more fun if I had won, man, it would have been a lot more fun if I had won….”
