Each and every week, partypoker is giving away 10 packages to the Caribbean Poker Party that are worth $6,000, via the $1 million Summer Giveaway promotion, plus a further five $8,000 packages are won via the weekly satellite.
Recently, we caught up with some of the lucky winners and quizzed them about the Caribbean Poker Party promotion, their plans for their time in Punta Cana, and more. Here’s what they had to say.
Ali Zihni, a popular grinder on the UK circuit, won his package via the Summer Giveaway promotion through hard work and determination. Ali played all the $109 buy-in Power Series tournaments every day, often for 15-16 hours, in an attempt to secure some fun in the sun. Needless to say he’s most lucking forward to “the sun, beach, chilling out with some buddies, a few drinks, and a big bink!” We hear you Ali!
Adan Ford won an $8,000 package via the weekly satellites and says the whole concept “is an amazing thing for a social player like me.” Adan has “heard fantastic things” about the previous edition of the Caribbean Poker Party that Dusk Till Dawn ran a few years ago, and is “excited about this one as DTD has teamed up with partypoker meaning things can only get better.”
Another player winning an $8,000 package, which allows them to take someone with them to Punta Cana, is Paul Romain. As you can imagine, Paul has been fighting off requests to be his plus one, and jokingly says his decision will “probably go to sealed bids!” I’ll give you a bag of pork scratching and a Crystal Palace shirt, Paul!
Although there is hot poker action in Punta Cana this winter, Ian Simpson seems more excited about the luxury accommodation put on for the players.
“The hotel looks ridiculously good. You can request to have a guitar in your room! I’m actually tempted to skip all of the side events and just enjoy the free top shelf booze all week!”
“I’m most looking forward to playing poker in another country,” says David Spring, who was playing a live satellite when he secured his $8,000 Caribbean Poker Party package, and admits he “went absolutely ballistic” when he won.
David is taking his friend Mike Clark with him, a friend who he first met playing tournaments at the Grosvenor Southampton casino, and now they go away playing tournaments together. See, poker is a social game after all!
Everyone we talked to spoke very highly of the partnership between partypoker and DTD, with David saying “it has made a huge difference to the grassroots game in the UK,” thanks in part to allowing anyone and everyone to qualify for major events from as little as $0.01.
Finally, one man who seems to have it all figured out is Ashley Hunt who says, “The package looks incredible; everything from the flights, the hotel and the destination! The fact that I qualified for less than £100 and don’t have to spend any more than that is really great. I will be treating it as a holiday primarily, with my partner, with just a hint of poker and just maybe a nice payday.”
