Sammy Lefleur became a PartyPoker Grand Prix KO Autumn edition champion after he navigated his way through a 949-strong field in the $200,000 guaranteed 7-Max Championship. Canada’s Lefleur came out on top of a final table dominated by Norden players and padded his bankroll with $26,197.
Only 141 of the 949 progressed to Day 2, each having locked up $237.37 from the regular prize pool in addition to any bounties they picked up along the way. Stars such as Jonathan Proudfoot, Jerry Odeen, Jareth East, and our very own Jaime Staples reached Day 2 but fell before the seven-handed final table was set.
Denmark’s Henrik Juncker ($2,822) was the first of the seven finalists to find themselves on the sidelines. Sweden’s Ludvig Lindstrom ($5,154), Mexico-based grinder Diego Thomas ($6,664), and Dane Patrick Hyllegaard ($6,717) joined the list of busted players.
Heads-up was set when Canada’s Jonathan Bussieres ($9,903) fell by the wayside; the heads-up duo were now guaranteed five-figure scores.
Lafleur and Elias Suhonen of Finland fought it out one-on-one having secured more than $13,900 from the main prize pool. Both players had sent plenty of opponents to the rail before reaching this point, so the final bounty weighed in at over $12,000.
Lafelur got the job done and walked away with the title of champion in addition to $26,197 in prize money. Suhonen headed into the night with $19,462 to show for his efforts.

Legoupil Becomes the Mini 7-Max Championship Winner
The $22 buy-in Mini 7-Max Championship crowned its winner and Malta’s Joffrey Legoupil is that champion. Legoupil came out on top of a 2,969 field to turn his $22 investment into the lion’s share of the $75,000 prize pool, namely $7,271.
Each of the seven finalists saw their $22 buy-in swell into a six-figure sum thanks, in part, to the bounty element of this exciting tournament. John Nugent ($1,345), Kiril Protsenko ($1,375), and Kyle Cronin ($1,721) were the first trio of finalists to fall by the wayside. Martin Alcaide of Bulgaria ($2,388), and the United Kingdom’s Paul Murphy ($4,032) busted out, leaving Legoupil heads-up against Germany star Daniel Yerin.
Having locked in more than $5,300 from the regular prize pool, the heads-up duo fought it out for the final bounties of the event. Legoupil got his hands on those final bounties, taking his total haul to an impressive $7,271 and leaving Yerin to collect the $6,186 consolation prize.
