The race for the coveted purple jacket awarded to the biggest points earner during the Poker Masters Online PLO Series is well and truly hotting up. Players from around the world continue to descend on partypoker each day for PLO tournaments with buy-ins from $5,200 to $25,500.

Someone will walk away not only with the purple jacket but entry to the $1.5 million guaranteed Main Event worth $51,000! That someone would be Eelis Parssinen if the leaderboard ended now. Through the eighth event, the Finnish superstar has cashed four times for $638,873 and amassed 480 points.

Parssinen holds a 62-point lead over his fellow Finn, the high stakes PLO guru known as Jens “Jeans89” Kyllonen. This high stakes duo found themselves heads-up in the $10,300 High Roller: $500K Gtd event on June 25.

Fifty-players started and six of them padded their bankrolls with a share of the $500,000 prize pool. Elior Sion of the United Kingdom was the player who crashed and burned in seventh, paving the way for a cash of at least $27,027 for the surviving players.

Andreas Torbergsen collected that sum and was soon joined on the rail by Laszlo Bujtas who scooped $35,000. One of our own, Team partypoker’s Roberto Romanello, turned his $10,300 into a cool $45,000 courtesy of a fourth-place finish, which left three Finns to battle it out for the title.

Aku Joentausta fell by the wayside in third to leave Parssinen and Kyllonen to fight it out for the $200,000 top prize and the all-important lion’s share of the leaderboard points. It was Kyllonen who emerged from the battle victoriously and he banked $200,000, leaving Parsinnen to walk away with $127,927.

Haxton Narrowly Misses Out on PLO Glory

Isaac Haxton had to make do with a $133,091 consolation prize in the $10,300 High Roller: $500K Gtd event after a heads-up clash with Finland’s Sami Kelopuro didn’t go to plan.

Kelopuro is one of the world’s best PLO players so there’s name shame to coming second, although knowing Haxton like we do, we know he’ll be disappointed to have navigated his way through such a stellar field just to fall at the final hurdle. Kelopuro’s victory banked him $208,000.

Earlier at the final table, Laszlo Bujtas helped himself to the $28,108 sixth place money before Ireland’s Mark Davis kept up his impressive form in partypoker High Roller events with a fifth-place finish worth $36,400.

Fourth place prize money weighed in at $46,800 and that’s the sum Bengt Sonnert scooped before Joao Vieira netted the $67,600 third-place prize.
