Grand Prix Austria: A little about Vienna
Vienna is the largest city of Austria and homes almost one third of Austria’s population; Vienna is the seventh-largest city by population within city limits in the European Union.
Often called the City of Music thanks to its musical legacy, Vienna is also called The City of Dreams because the world’s first psycho analyst Sigmund Freud called Vienna home. Other notable historic figures hailing from Vienna include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, former Governor of California Arnold Schwartznegger, Marie Antoinette,
Vienna is a rich city, one that known for its high quality of life and a city visited by 6.2 million tourists in 2014. It is also the city that is the base for football teams SK Rapid Wien and Austria Wien; the latter are at home to St Polten at 5:30 p.m. CET on April 8 should you fancy watching an Austrian Bundesliga game.
If you love food then you’ll love Vienna because Vienna is famous for Wiener Schnitzel, a cutlet of veal or pork that is pounded flat, coated in flour, egg and breadcrumbs and fried in clarified butter.
Street vendors throughout Vienna serve various sausages such as Wiener, Burenwurst, Kasekrainer, and Bratwurst — our mouths are salivating already — so ensure you bring some of the local currency with you, which is euros.
