Oh boy the elimination of Phil Hellmuth in third place has blown this group wide open, he’ll collect eight points for finishing third in this heat. He’ll have 18 going into the last heat, one of Antonio Esfandiari or Scott Seiver will leapfrog him meaning he’ll go into the final heat in joint fourth spot, teetering on the edge of automatic qualification, but equally close to the relegation zone.

Three handed play lasted a while but this is the hand that did for him. From the small blind Antonio Esfandiari raised all-in with , Hellmuth looked down at , counted his stack of 172,000, then decided he could wait no longer to try and double up and called all-in.

The flop actually made Hellmuth a 54% favourite, the turn though swung the pendulum Esfandiari’s way as he was now a 67% favourite and the river sent the chips his way.

Group A is now wide open and the last heat is shaping up to be an all-time cat and mouse classic.
