The partypoker LIVE Caribbean Poker Party is less than three weeks away and we cannot wait for it to kick off. Thousands of poker players from around the world are set to descend on Baha Mar in The Bahamas to seek fame and fortune.

This year’s MILLIONS Main Event features a massive $10 million guaranteed prize pool for a $10,300 buy-in. Hundreds of partypoker players will be competing in this event for far less money thanks to winning PP LIVE Dollars, seats and packages via our satellites.

Caribbean Poker Party has run four times previously. Once was under the steam of Dusk Till Dawn back in 2012 and three times, since 2016, under the partypoker LIVE flag. Can you remember the Caribbean Poker Party Main Event champions? We certainly can.

2012 Caribbean Poker Party

The inaugural Caribbean Poker Party was run by Dusk Till Dawn, the home of British poker. It may have only attracted 110 entrants to the $3,000 buy-in event, but a superb time was enjoyed by all.

One man in particular had more than his fair share of fun, DTD regular Wahid “Wadey” Ashraf who triumphed in the main event for $85,600. Ashraf defeated DTD supremo Rob Yong heads-up to secure the title, resigning Yong to a $50,700 consolation prize.

2016 Caribbean Poker Party

A cool $2 million was guaranteed for the 2016 Caribbean Poker Party as the event teamed up with the World Poker Tour. A much larger field of 526 entries created a guarantee-busting $2,007,500 prize pool shared among the top 90 finishers.

Canadian’s dominated the final table with them taking up four of the nine seats. Ari Engel busted in sixth-place for $58,000 before Canadian’s wrapped up the top three spots. Edward Van Klooser netted $150,000 for his third-place exit with Troy Quenneville defeating Erik Cajelais heads-up for the title. Cajelais banked $250,000 with Quenneville collecting $400,000.

2017 Caribbean Poker Party

2017 was the year the Caribbean Poker Party really kicked on and became a must-play event on the live poker tournament calendar. Partypoker LIVE were now involved and upped the buy-in to $5,300 in addition to placing a $5 million guarantee on the Main Event.

The guarantee was hit when 1,061 players bought in, creating a $5,032,050 prize pool that the top 111 finishers shared.

Such luminaries as Niall Farrell, Martin Jacobson, Timothy Finne, William Foxen, Joseph Cheong, Team partypoker’s Richard Dubini, Maria Ho, 2016 champion Troy Quenneville, and now Team partypoker pro Jason Koon reached the money place.

Once again it was a Canadian star who shone the brightest, Sam Greenwood taking down the Main Event and netting $1 million. Greenwood beat Andrey Shatilov heads-up for the title, resigning the Russian to a $650,000 consolation.

Where in 2016 only the top three finishers received a six-figure prize, all but one of this final table won that sum with Greenwood netting seven-figures.

2018 Caribbean Poker Party

If you thought 2017 was big for the Caribbean Poker Party, then 2018 was spectacular. partypoker LIVE decided to keep the $5,300 buy-in but ramped up the guarantee to an incredible $10 million. A massive field of 1,815 players left us with a $300,000 overlay, which benefited the top 223 players who made it into the money.

The top 10 finishers won at least $110,000 with the final three becoming millionaires, such was the size of the prize pool. Sweden’s Anton Wigg busted in 10th for $110,000 with Australia’s Alex Lynskey netting $155,000 for his ninth-place exit.

Joe Kuether crashed out in eighth-place, the first of two Americans present and correct at the final table; the other navigated his way to heads-up. Two Portuguese players, Diogo Veiga and the eventual champion Filipe Oliveira navigated their way to the finale, too.

The first player to become a millionaire in this event was Marc MacDonnell of Ireland who fell in third-place. Our runner-up was Craig Mason who scooped $1,200,000 while Oliveira banked $1,500,000 and the title of champion.
