Charlie Combes is another of our PartyPoker qualifiers and is currently seated to the direct left of former football ace Teddy Sheringham.
Combes is currently ranked 11th in the United Kingdom for online poker tournaments thanks in part to him winning more than $3,000,000 from them – must be nice! Combes started playing poker seven years ago while, like many before him, he was studying at University. One night he left his bar job early, decided to buy into a $50 rebuy tournament online and “somehow won it for $10k.” That bar job became redundant the very next day.
Our qualifier won his seat to WPT National London at the first attempt, winning a $320 buy-on satellite on PartyPoker, and he is hoping to hit it big on the live scene for the first time. Although Combes has $65,000 in live tournament winnings, he is the first to admit that he is predominately an online poker specialist.
Despite his obvious poker skills, Combes is looking outside of poker for his future. Any big scores he has are going to be invested in a number of business ideas he has, including getting onto the property ladder. Hopefully Combes will be building houses and not stacks after this tournament has finished.
