All rake from charity tournament to be shared equally between trust fund for Ulliott’s daughter Lucy and Macmillan Cancer charity
partypoker LIVE and the WPT are gearing up for this year’s Devilfish Cup, a highlight of the WPT UK festival currently underway at Nottingham’s Dusk Till Dawn Casino.
First held in 2016 in honour of long-time friend of partypoker, the late Dave Ulliott, the $1M guaranteed tournament will run from September 30 to October 2, 2019 at the ‘home of UK poker’. With a $5,300 buy-in the event is expected to draw a mix of poker professionals and well-known faces from across the UK poker scene, including fellow Brits Sam Trickett, Ludovic Geilich and Roberto Romanello of Team partypoker, plus Dusk Till Dawn owner, Rob Yong and partypoker LIVE chairman, John Duthie.
The two live event operators have agreed to split all rake from the charity event equally between a trust fund held on behalf of Ulliott’s daughter Lucy and the Macmillan Cancer charity.
‘Devilfish’ rose to fame throughout the 1990s, amassing over $6 million in live career winnings throughout a poker career spanning 20 years.
The colourful Hull native quickly became a mainstay of British poker through the popular UK show ‘Late Night Poker’, where he would often light up TV screens with his quick wit and creative playing style alongside the likes of Simon Trumper and Phil Hellmuth.
Many players still hold fond memories of their times spent with Devilfish over the years, be it at the poker felt or while entertaining others on guitar.
Team partypoker’s Sam Trickett said: “I played a lot at DTD with Dave and we would always be talking, laughing and joking when he was on the table. I look forward to playing the Devilfish Cup as it gives another chance to look back and remind ourselves how much of a poker legend he was.”
