Whilst no one likes to be knocked out first of any poker tournament the players really don’t want to be knocked out of the first heat first.
One man who knows his onions when it comes to the Premier League is Jesse May, he’s in the commentary booth with Phil Laak and Jennifer Tilly and one of the subjects that’s cropped up is that of the bagel.
For those that don’t know, the first player out get 0 points, commonly known as ‘the bagel’ due to their similarity in shape. May told me before the start of play that the bagel is the first heat is usually a harbinger of doom. “Last year Ben Wilinofsky and Luke Schwartz got the bagel in the opening heats and they both got relegated.”
If you get the bagel in the first heat, you just might be toast.
