And they’re off, the runners and riders have mounted their chair-like saddles, a virtual starter-gun has been fired and poker is now being played at the very first Party Poker MILLIONS Malta Festival. On Friday evening a satellite into this took place but today is Day 1a proper of the Party Poker Grand Prix, with a cool €1m guarantee!
The Party Poker Grand Prix
The Grand Prix is one of Party Poker’s most iconic poker events and has both online and live editions. Although this is a live edition and this is the first day of the festival, it actually got started a few months ago on with several online starting days on Party Poker. And despite this being the first live day 1 of the festival, there have already been some special live starting days in Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Ireland. In total before today, 319 players had already participated in a day 1.

Play is underway in Day 1a and the turnout is quite impressive for the opening weekend, which is often a low-key affair with just a few tables in operation. On this occasion, 229 entries we registered and the venue is running at full capacity. As expected, a lot of local players are taking advantage of the cut-price entry in this flight, but many overseas players have also turned up early as well, including young Dutch Instagram entrepreneur and influencer Stan Dannijs.
If you missed this first cut-price opportunity to play in the Party Poker Grand Prix, there is another one taking place on Sunday 24th September, after that the buy-in returns to the usual €550 for the remaining flights, which restart on Thursday 28th September.

Last Chance Online Satellite
If you still haven’t qualified for the Party Poker Grand Prix Malta, there is one more opportunity to do so in the final online satellite, which takes place on Party Poker at 22:00 (UK time) on Sunday 24th September. Its the final of a phase satellite, which means you cant enter it directly, but you can gain entry to it by playing in the €44 Phase 2 satellite at 15:00 (UK time). For those who make it, there are 3 x €1k packages up for grabs. There’s also a seat at the exclusive Party Poker Players party (at Club 22 on October 1st) waiting for anyone who wins a package.
