Three of the 12 numbered Grand Prix Summer events have crowned their champions, and “Optibetpoker” is one of those worthy winners. They triumphed in the $50,000 guaranteed Grand Prix Summer Opener PKO, and took home $8,673.
Some 2,511 PartyPoker players bought in, creating a guarantee-busting $75,330 prize pool, and getting the Grand Prix Summer series off to a flying start. That substantial prize pool meant all but two of the nine finalists saw their $33 investment swell to a four-figure sum.
“MegaMove87” was the first of the finalists to bow out. Their ninth-place finish came with $922 with bounties included. “Sn1jden” joined the list of busted players, doing so with $611 to show for their efforts.
“Gordothegreat” and “KannstduLeihen” crashed out and collected $1,026 and $1,205, respectively, leaving only five players in the hunt for the title of champion.
Those five became four when Igotdanuts01″ fell by the wayside, taking $1,831 with them.
“erikdinho” was eliminated in fourth for $3,039, “pokerdave47699” banked $3,491 after falling in third, with that penultimate elimination sending the Opener PKO into the heads-up stage.
“Optibetpoker” fought with “c4ught” for the lion’s share of the prize pool and the all-important victory. The one-on-one battle went the way of the former, and they saw $8,673 land in their PartyPoker account, leaving “c4ught” to collect a $4,947 consolation prize.
