We imagine by now, unless your internet coverage over the past few weeks has been as patchy as Adam Brody’s beard, you’re aware that our showcase event, the partypoker Grand Prix Million has commenced. The $120 buy-in tournament that features a massive $1 million guaranteed prize pool is underway and gaining momentum by the day.
It’s kind of a big deal.
Two of the online starting flights are in the books, attracting 830 entrants thus far.
Today, May 15, sees the start of the live legs that are being held at Europe’s premier poker room, the fantastic Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) in Nottingham. The first live leg commenced and a second flight is scheduled to kick off at 17:00, too.
Don’t worry if you missed the opening brace of live start days as there are plenty more chances to get in on the action, both live at Dusk Till Dawn and online at partypoker.com. Over the course of the weekend there are four more live Day 1s and another two online legs.
There’s a live and online Day 1 on both Monday 18 May and Tuesday 19 May, with at least two live legs and one online leg taking place between Wednesday 20 May and Sunday 24 May.
Wondering what you get for you $120 investment?
Both live and online players receive the same 50,000 starting stack, the only difference is the live legs have 30-minute blind levels compared to 12 minutes online. You’re dealt more hands per hour online and these reduced blind levels stop online players form garnering an advantage, the sole reason for online’s shorter blind levels.
Players are able to re-enter once per starting flight and can play as many Day 1s as they wish, but can only take their largest stack through to Day 2, all other stacks being forfeited.
$120 is an affordable buy-in an event with such an astronomical guarantee, yet there are scores of partypoker customers who prefer to try qualify for even less. With the plethora of satellite tournaments running throughout the duration of Day 1s, they’re in luck and can potentially qualify for as little as $0.01.
Good luck to everyone taking part in this historic event. We hope to see you at the final table.
