Twitch TV partypokerTV is Live Now - Watch live on Twitch

If you need to work on your poker face, this probably isn’t the best event to hone your skills. Then again, you might learn something about how to control your emotions by watching this high-octane sport live. And if you want to experience ping pong at its finest, then you’ve come to the right place.

This could be your one and only chance to see the world’s top ping pong players smash, whack and bash the ball with skilful and reckless abandon.

And if you don’t think doing something with skilful and reckless abandon is possible, we are here to tell you that indeed it is. However, you’ll have to venture to the World Championship of Ping Pong, being held at Alexandra Place, London, on 24th and 25th of Jan, to experience first-hand what we mean.

The best way to gain entry to this year’s showcase ping pong tournament is through our social media ticket giveaway. It’s easy, fun and, most importantly, free.

Ping pong, or table tennis – as some people say – was actually, contrary to popular belief, invented in England before the end of the 19th century. Back in Victorian times some upper-middle class folks, after dinner – maybe a warm, satisfying roast – decided to turn their dining room tables into mini versions of the traditional lawn tennis playing field and started ever-so politely, using lids from empty cigar boxes as rackets, hitting a ball of string back and forth.

The rest, as they say, is history. We’re not going to bore you with anymore historical details, but rest assured, table tennis is an English game, so why not experience a pastime so often forgotten about.

It’s a game played recreationally by many worldwide, which offers endless hours of amusement and entertainment, especially with a beer in hand.

Of course, it is vastly different from poker, but are there similarities, too?

We’d love to hear what you think. Ping pong us with your thoughts. Comment below on how you think ping pong compares to poker.
