The WPT Online Series Mini Main Event shuffled up and dealt for the first time on May 15 and saw 466 players buy in for $530. Only 70 of those Day 1A starters finished the flight with chips in front of them, and nobody had more chips than Luc Bindel.

Bindel, a Malta-based Frenchman, bagged up a tournament-leading stack of 4,851,091 chips when the curtain came down on the first of two Mini Main Event flights. He has a lot of work still ahead of him if he wants to become this tournament’s champion, but Bindel has started the event in the best possible way.

Brazil’s Marco Moreira is the man occupying second place before the Day 1B flight on May 16. The Brazilian has 3,637,202 chips in his arsenal, meaning he trails the current leader by the equivalent of 40 big blinds. That shows how impressive Bindel was on Day 1A.

Plenty of stellar names navigated their way through the shark-infested waters of the Day 1A field. MILLIONS Online Main Event champion Endrit Geci (3,118,471) finished with a top-five stack, while fellow Brit Jareth East (2,937,102) also started well.

Joseph Cheong (2,742,536) and Stoyan Kitanov (2,737,557) have top 10 stacks right now.

Others who punched their Day 2 tickets at the first attempt include Ryan Plant (1,681,556), Yiannis Liperis (1,531,548), Michiel Brummelhuis (1,485,627), Dinesh Alt (1,365,365), and Jerry Odeen (1,125,591).

Day 1B commences at 19:05 BST on May 16 .

Huge Value in the $1,050 Opener

Two of the scheduled three flights of the $1,050 WPT #01 Opener event are done and dusted, meaning only Day 1C, at 16:05 BST, remain. The tournament looks to be heading for a substantial overlay with $500,000 guaranteed in the event and $268,000 collected across the first two flights.

Manuel Fernandez finished Day 1B with a flight-leading stack of 1,748,191, placing him second overall, half a million chips behind Day 1A leader Ioannis Angelou Konstas. (2,261,718).

The Day 1B field was more than twice as busy as the first flight and saw such luminaries as Dominik Nitsche (965,607), Patrice Brandt (775,334), Michiel Brummelhuis (664,372), Team partypoker’s Dzmitry Urbanovich (522,335), Andrey Pateychuk (259,834), and Mary Pudmoreff (129,840) progress to Day 2.

There are plenty of Opener satellites to get your teeth into before Day 1C begins. They start from only $6.60 so are affordable for the majority of our players. This is the tournament to take a shot at if you were ever going to take a shot at a big buy-in event.
