It was a great level for Phil Laak, but not such a good one for his girlfriend Jennifer Tilly. Whilst she’s currently in the play-off zone and Laak is in the relegation zone their positions could well be flipped by the end of this heat.

The players chip stacks are as below. The +/- figure in brackets is their profit/loss since the end of the last level and the big blind figure is how many they have for the current level. Blinds are now 8,000/16,000/2,000a.

Phil Laak – 789,000 (+423,000) – 49 big blinds
Jason Mericer – 658,000 (+4,000) – 41 big blinds
Tobias Reinkemeier – 596,000 (+1,000) – 37.25 big blinds
Tony G – 357,000 (-215,000) – 22 big blinds

Good level for

Talal Shakerchi despite not being at the table (as he’d already been eliminated) by virtue of Jennifer Tilly being eliminated he’s definitely in the final on Saturday.

Phil Laak A great level for Laak saw him eliminate Dan Shak (see below) and climb to the top of the chip charts. He’s doing his chances of making the play offs the world of good, but at the same time perhaps putting Jennifer Tilly’s – his girlfriend – hopes at risk.

Bad level for

Jennifer Tilly – She was knocked out in sixth place and now faces a sweat to see if she’ll make the play-offs.

Hand of the level

Dan Shak was eliminated in fifth place, Phil Laak getting his chips. The Unabomber had limped the button previously with 10-3 and then folded, the next time it folded to him on the button he limped with a real hand, . From the small blind Dan Shak moved in for 209,000 with and Laak made the call.

The board ran , Shak finishes on 39 points and takes 390,000 to the final table.
