Over the next two-and-a-half hours, Christopher Mantegna, Gergely Penzes, Erik Sund, Michal Chaffe, Martynas Vitkauskas and Timotheos Timotheou. The players won amounts ranging from £2,710 up to £9,150.
Timotheou’s exit in third place left Mohammed Suhail and Ventre to lock horns heads up for the title. Ventre went into the one-on-one battle with a sizable chip lead, one that had increased greatly by the time the final hand took place.
The final hand took place during the 250,000/500,000 blind level and saw Ventre dominating with an 8.7 million to 1.51 million-chip lead. Suhail opened from the button, Ventre three-bet and then instantly called when Suhail shipped in the remainder of his stack. Suhail showed [Kx][3x] and was trailing the [Ax][Qx] of Ventre. The [Ax][3x][Qx] flop hit both players, but it hit Ventre the hardest and left Suhail needing to spike a three. The [2x] turn was close yet still changed nothing and when a ten landed on the river it was game over for Suhail and Ventre had won the partypoker WPT National UK London Main Event.

Positive Response to the Accumulator Format from the Players and Staff
Everyone who competed in this fabulous event was full of praise for the format, the structure and the venue. Lee Johnston, the WPT Tournament Manager said: “It’s been a great first stop of the new partypoker WPT National UK tour, to achieve 510 entries is fantastic. The feedback we have received from the players has been very positive, everyone has had such a great event experience; they’ve praised all the features that have made the event a success, which includes the accumulator concept, the hospitality in the partypoker lounge, the WPT players party and the great staff and support from Aspers Casino.
“For such a small outlay the players have a number of chances to create a stack to play for big money. It’s amazing how much of the field were recreational players that had won seats either through partypoker online or Aspers live satellites. For the vast majority of players this was their first major poker event. I would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts throughout the weekend. Hope to see you all at our next stop in Milton Keynes 19 – 22 of December, 2013.’
John Scanlon, Head of Aspers Poker, echoed Johnston’s words: “A massive thank you to all the players that came to support and make the event a triumph for everyone involved. I have been planning an Accumulator event for a long time. However, it wasn’t until I sat down with WPT General Manager Neil Barrett that I believed Aspers had the right partner to move forward and make the event a success. To give players the opportunity to become a WPTN champion for just £200 is amazing. Congratulations to John Ventre our champion and it’s a nice bonus that our first winner is a regular cash player in the casino. Hope to see a sell out for the next event in Milton Keynes.”
