Everyone knows that satellite tournaments can prove to be extremely popular because they give you a shot at a higher buy-in tournament that you would not ordinarily be able to play if you are following proper bankroll management. Satellites have traditionally only awarded tickets, seats or packages to higher buy-in events, although sometimes there is a little bit of cash for one or two players depending on the accumulated prize pool.
We have created a fun and exciting satellite format that could see you freerolling towards a ticket: Bounty Satellites. Each buy-in in these bounty satellites is split in half. Fifty-percent goes towards the tickets awarded with the remaining half being placed on the heads of everyone who enters, creating a different dynamic throughout the tournament.
Eliminate an opponent and you will receive half of their bounty amount while increasing the bounty on your own head by the same amount, just like in our standing PKO Power Series tournaments. The main difference is one the bubble bursts and the tickets are awarded, everyone still in the field keeps their own bounty.
What are the benefits to Bounty Satellites?
You may be sat scratching your head and wondering what the benefits to playing bounty satellites are. Well, we have thought of that and are about to explain some of them here.
Firstly, this format can dramatically reduce variance in satellites by giving you the opportunity to win part, all or more than your initial buy-in, giving you more ammunition to fire at future satellites.
This new format also improves play on and around the bubble because your equity is not completely tied up in the tickets, which should lead to the tournament flowing better and some interesting bubble dynamics should be thrown into the mix.
Also, if you perform particularly well in the early stages of these new bounty satellites, you could actually end up winning enough bounties to pay for the entry to the tournament yu were trying to qualify for and get your hands on a ticket too!
When can I play bounty satellites
Head to the satellites filter in the partypoker tournament lobby and you will already see the bounty satellites waiting to be played. Initially, while we trial these games, you will be able to enjoy them in a variety of buy-ins at 14:00 CEST, 18:00 CEST, and 18:30 CEST.
