We are proud of our Daily Legends tournaments. A lot of work has gone into them to ensure they have a superb structure that is no compromised by the fact they finish at a reasonable hour. They are the perfect online poker tournaments for players who juggle grinding with the daily grind of a nine-to-five job.
Daniel Turner is one partypoker player who agrees. The maths teacher from Kegworth, Leicestershire, has been playing poker for the past four years and is a big fan of the Daily Legends schedule.
“I first discovered poker in 2017 when my local pub started running a game. it was a social thing for me but I quickly fell in love with the game, and I soon started watching old poker videos and finding other pub games to play in. I only started playing online towards the end of 2018, and again this was only something fun to do in my spare time. I started playing micro-stakes and my first “big” win at the time was winning $411 from a $1.10 buy-in. This helped me earn a bit of extra beer money while I was studying at university, but it also made me realise you could make some decent money from this game.”
“Over the years, I have started to take poker a bit more seriously, and I have started trying to grow a proper bankroll and move up stakes. With the extra time over lockdown, I have managed to improve my game and I am consistently winning at the low stakes that I mostly play.”
A Big Score In The Ocean’s Daily Legend Tournament
Daniel enjoyed a bankroll-boosting score when he finished second in the $7,500 guaranteed The Ocean’s tournament. He got his hands on $898.64 for his runner-up finish.
“The tournament went really well. For the early stages and middle stages, I was kind of just slowly chipping up, and I feel like I was around the average stack for the majority of those stages. However, towards the back end of the tournament, I think with around 30 players left, I won a couple of massive pots in a short space of time, which propelled me to the chip lead.”
“After this, I was able to use my stack effectively to navigate my way to the final table where I could then try and lock up as much cash as possible. The hand that sticks in my mind was the pot that handed me the chip lead with 30 players left. I flat-called on the button with nine-six suited, and the flop came Q69. I managed to knock out another big stack that held pocket kings.”
Variety Is The Spice Of Life
Winning almost $1,000 is bound to make you a fan of a set of tournaments, but it is not only the prize money that drives Daniel to play in our Daily Legends.
“I like the Daily Legends tournaments for a few reasons. Mostly for me is the variety of different games and structures that are available. There are bounties, turbos, in addition to regular tournaments. Then there are Hold’em, Omaha, and PLO8 if you want.”
“Also, there are limited re-entries, which I think is a good idea as it keeps the poker serious and doesn’t get crazy with people firing off loads of bullets. Finally, I really like the time schedule of the tournaments because I am working as a teacher and can’t be up all night playing! I love the Daily Legends because I know where I stand with them. I know that I will not be playing all through the night so I can register for any tournament on the schedule without having to worry too much about sleep.”
More Players = Larger Guarantees
There is always room for improvement in all walks of life, and Daniel has a suggestion for improving the already awesome Daily Legends schedule.
“To be honest, there really isn’t much I can say to improve the tournaments. I think the structures are brilliant and I really enjoy playing them. Obviously, I can be greedy and wish for bigger guarantees but I understand these will come with an increase of the player pools, so I am hoping that when more people realise how good the Daily legends are, that these can increase alongside them.”
Like many British poker players, Daniel is waiting for Rob Yong to announce Dusk Till Dawn is re-opening. Until that happens, Daniel is concentrating on the online poker grind.
“My goals for the rest of the year are to just carry on doing what I am going — play as much as I can and hopefully keep picking up consistent results. I feel that I am constantly improving each time I play, so I hope to keep on that trajectory.”
“I am also really excited about getting to play some live poker. I’ve already played in a few different tournaments around the country, and I cannot wait to play some more. I also can’t wait until Dusk Till Dawn open back up again because it is definitely my favourite place to play poker.”
