Brazil’s Felipe Theodoro Da Costa put on an excellent performance on Day 1B of the Micro Main Event, one that saw him not only finish as the flight’s chip leader but he now also leads the charge overall.

Da Costa ended Day 1B with 6,985,879 chips in his arsenal, two million more than his nearest Day 1B rival, fellow Brazilian Alexandre Andrade. The leader’s stack is that large that he has almost 1.5 million more chips than any of the 1,365-players who return to the action at 20:00 CEST on August 31 for Day 2.

Only one other Day 1B grinder bagged up more than four million chips, that player being Martin Erdmann of Germany. Danish star Kim Heidermann was a handful of chips short of four million so can be very pleased with how they’ve started this $1 million guaranteed event.

Outside the top 10, Team partypoker’s Patrick Leonard (1,936,124) made it through. Leonard’s teammates Carl Froch (692,690), and Jeff Gross (448,729) also punched their Day 2 tickets.

As did such luminaries as Jerry Wong (2,882,315), Jans Arends (2,371,493), Adam Owen (2,101,428), Dominik Panka (1,589,595), and Dara O’Kearney (1,343,824).

Play resumes at 20:00 CEST on August 31 and continues until the conclusion of the 20th level. The top 1,304 finishers receive at least $210 for their efforts, with a final table appearance boosting this to $8,540. The eventual champion, whoever that may be, walks away with $149,985 for their $109 investment!

Konstantin Fetzer Is The Man To Catch After Day 1A of the Mini Main Event

Day 1A of the $1,050 Mini Main Event attracted 2,510-entries and only 407 of those starters progressed to Day 2 at the first attempt.

Konstantin Fetzer started this $5 million guaranteed event like a house on fire and ended the first of two flights with a tournament-leading stack of 4,423,490 chips. He was the only player to bag up more than four million chips, although some massive names were hot on his heels.

Stephen Chidwick returns to the action next week with 3,624,171 chips in his stack. That’s bad news for the rest of the field because Chidwick certainly knows how to wield a big stack.

As does Preben Stokkan who finished Day 1A with 3,609,940 chips.

Team partypoker will be represented by a few of its members. Roberto Romanello shone the brightest of our stars, the Triple Crown-winning Welshman turned his 200,000 starting stack into a more substantial 2,182,110. Teammates Patrick Leonard (1,825,141), Hristivoje Pavlovic (1,702,793), Richard Dubini (524,339), and Mikita Badziakouski (323,992) also made it through from Day 1A.

As you’d expect from such a prestigious tournament, the opening flight was packed with stellar names. Plenty of them are now through to Day 2, including Christian Rudolph (2,338,939), Chance Kornuth (2,176,632), Thomas Boivin (2,069,986), Joao Vieira (1,784,414), Kahle Burns (1,653,995), Pablo Birto Silva (1,471,788), and Craig McCorkell (1,428,092).
