Friday was Day 1f of the 2014 partypoker WPT500 UK and what a memorable day it was. Not only was Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) packed with some of the best poker talent in the world, it was a day that goes down in history thanks to it being the busiest ever at DTD.
A massive crowd of 673 unique players bought into the £1 million guaranteed event and made 147 re-entries between them, taking the total attendance to an almost unbelievable 820, which means reaching the guarantee is all but guaranteed.
Despite the Nottingham-based club brimming with poker’s superstars such as two-time World Poker Tour champion and three-time World Series of Poker winner Michael Mizrachi, it was lesser-known Richard Buck who claimed the Day 1f chip lead after turning his 30,000 starting stack into 431,000.
Joining Buck at the right end of the leader board were Gordon Huntly (397,000), James Thomson (380,000), Colin Lovelock (371,500) and Iaron Lightbourne (341,000), while the likes of Chuck Clark (272,500), Benjamin Carpenter (241,500), Carlo Citrone (205,500), Dhru Patel (181,500), Marc Inian (116,500), Kevin Allen (109,000), Simon Hemsworth (102,000), David Nicholson (93,000), Maria Demetriou (62,000), David Peters (53,500), Yucel Eminoglu (46,000), and Scott O’Reilly (31,500) also progressing.
