Here at partypoker, we believe that anyone can learn how to play poker, even if they don’t have the faintest clue about this marvellous game, which is why we’ve launched Big Bluff where four British celebrities are being taught the ropes before being set loose on a live final table held at the Grand Prix Poker Tour Brighton leg.
One of those celebrities is the 51-year-old motorcycle legend Carl Fogarty.
Born on July 1, 1965 in Blackburn, Lancashire, Carl, often known simply as “Foggy,” holds legendary status in the world of motorcycle racing, particularly in the Superbike World Championship.
Carl is the most successful World Superbike racer of all time in terms of the number of race wins and championships under his belt. During his World Superbike Career, Carl took part in 219 races, finished on the podium 109 times, won 59 races, and enjoyed four championships, those coming in 1994, 1995, 1998, and 1999.
He also qualified in pole position 21 times, and recorded the fastest lap in a race on 48 occasions! It is fair to say Carl knows his way around a motorcycle.
Although Carl rode for other bike manufacturers, he is best known for his time with Italian outfit Ducati. In 2002, Ducati released a 300-unit special limited edition bike called the Monster S4 Fogarty in the great man’s honour.
Never one to shy away from voicing his opinion, Carl shoots from the hip and says it how it is, giving him a love-or-hate personality in the motorcycling circles – we’re most definitely in the love camp here at partypoker!
Since his retirement from competitive racing, Carl has set up a World Superbike Championship team, and in 2014 he won the 14th series of the popular ITV show I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, where his final challenge saw him have to eat a cupful of live mealworms, three live cockroaches, two fried tarantulas, an ostrich’s anus (yes really), and a camel’s penis; rather you than us, Carl!
Now Carl is preparing for another challenge, the partypoker Big Bluff. We feel Carl will excel in the mental side of the game due to the immense pressures he endured as a professional racer, and his willingness to go the extra mile (here’s looking at you camel penis) should stand him in good stead for when he takes on his fellow Big Bluff celebrities and final table qualifiers.
