Twitch TV partypokerTV is Live Now - Watch live on Twitch

Here at partypoker, we believe that anyone can learn how to play poker, even if they don’t have the faintest clue about this marvellous game, which is why we’ve launched Big Bluff where four British celebrities are being taught the ropes before being set loose on a live final table held at the Grand Prix Poker Tour Brighton leg.

One of the celebrities competing is 34-year-old Adebayo Akinfenwa, who you may know better as “The Beast.”

Akinfenwa is a football player, but he’s not a typical footballer, the striker is a man mountain. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing in a 16 stone, and able to bench press 200 kg, it is easy to see why he is nicknamed The Beast; can you imagine trying to shrug him off the ball?

Born in Islington, London, Akinfenwa joined Lithuanian team FK Atlantas where he made 22 appearances and scored five goals. In 2003, Akinfenwa signed for Barry Town, scoring six goals in nine games, before switching to Boston United, Leyton Orient, and Rushden & Diamonds.

A brief spell at Doncaster Rovers (nine games, four goals), came before a transfer to Torquay United in the 2004-05 season. Despite bagging 14 goals in 37 games, Torquay were relegated, and Akinfenwa left the club to join Swansea City where he made 61 appearances (14 goals).

The Beast then moved to Millwall, before making 88 appearances for Northampton Town where he scored an impressive 37 goals, leading to a transfer to Gillingham (44 games, 11 goals), back to Northampton Town (80 games, 34 goals), another spell at Gillingham (34 games, 10 goals), before heading to AFC Wimbledon in 2014.

Akinfenwa made 83 league appearances for AFC Wimbledon, scored 19 goals, including the winner in AFC Wimbledon’s playoff final against Plymouth Argyle.

In total, including cup games, Akinfenwa has scored 170 goals from 529 games, and probably terrified more defenders than those figures combined!

At the recent Big Bluff masterclass at Dusk Till Dawn, Akinfenwa’s personality shone through, and we can tell that he is going to be one to watch come the live final. Under his cheeky, fun-loving personality is a man who is determined to win, and we wouldn’t put it past him doing exactly that.
