Arantaur is yet another Legend of the Week who hails from Russia. The grinder from Magnitogorsk, an industrial city located whose motto is “the place where Europe and Asia meet” spoke to the partypoker blog about his poker story.

“I quit my job and turned to poker in early 2020,” Arantaur told us, “I worked in the maintenance of security and fire alarm systems, and played poker tournaments on weekends. In November 2019, my job moved to a completely different area. I tried it but did not like it. My bankroll was around $700-$800, and I decided to make poker my main source of income, and I still play poker for a living today. I first started playing online poker in mid-2018.”

Going Down to the Wire

Arantaur finished top of Leaderboard 2 by excelling in the two $5.50 buy-in Daily Legends tournaments. He may have finished in first place, but it was tight in the end.

“I cashed in both the Five Diamond and Headhunter on Monday for about 120 points, which made me decide to play them every day, even though I usually take Tuesday and Thursday off. I won another 80 points on Tuesday, didn’t cash on Wednesday, but won the Five Diamond on Thursday, which was worth around 500 points. Those points put me in first place.”

“Friday saw another min-cash in the Five Diamond, but I was invited to a barbecue on Saturday and I could not turn it down! I still played poker but from my phone; there were no cashes. I followed my opponents’ progress as there was a chance they would catch me, but it all worked out in the end.”

Leaderboard Create Plenty of Action

Naturally, Arantaur is delighted with the Legend of the Week promotion, as would you be had you padded your bankroll with a bunch of free tournament tickets!

“They create excellent action. I like them very much, and I am glad they continue.”

Even without the Legend of the Week promotion, you would still find Arantaur grinding our Daily Legends tournaments. He has already won a handful of them, and has his sights set firmly on the rest.

“I mostly play the Deuce, Double Jab, and Headhunter and have won all three. I have won the Five Diamond twice, and now I’m trying to conquer the rest! However, my favourites are probably the Headhunter and the Predator.

Become a Legend of the Week

The Legend of the Week promotion runs Monday through Saturday across five leaderboards. Each of the five leaderboards has a pair of tournaments costing $2.20, $5.50, $11, $22, and $55. You earn leaderboard points based on your finishing position, and the best performing players over the six days win free tournament tickets. Those tickets make it possible to play in higher buy-in tournaments you would not ordinarily play during your typical schedule!
