Aleksandr Gofman became the latest partypoker LIVE champion after he topped a star-studded field of 999 entrants in the partypoker LIVE MILLION Russia Main Event to get his hands on the winner’s trophy and a cool $1,000,000.

The partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event officially became the largest poker tournament in CIS history when 999 entries were processed. The $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool was divided up and shared among the top 161 finishers and saw the likes of Team partypoker members Anatoly Filatov, Johnny Lodden, and Dzmitry Urbanovich finish in the money places, the latter busting in 39th place.
By the time the eight-handed final table was reached, the least amount of money anyone was going to take home weighed in at the equivalent of $70,000 but the eventual champion would scoop an impressive $1,000,000.
The first player to bust from the final table was Vadim Lipovka. During the 1,000,000/2,000,000/200,000a level, Lipovka opened to 5,000,000 with , Michael Sklenicka three-bet to 14,000,000 with and then quickly called when Lipovka moved all-in. A final board reading sent Lipovka to the rail.
Despite winning Lipovka’s chips, Sklenicka was the next casualty. David Laka doubled through Sklenicka and the very next hand Sklenicka raised to 5,400,000 with , Laka three-bet to 18,500,000 with only to see Slenicka move all-in for 90,600,000. Laka snap-called. The board ran out to improve both players’ hands, but Laka had made a straight on the river to send Slenicka home in seventh place.
Sixth place went to Philipp Zukernik who moved all-in for around 10 big blinds with and Kala woke up with on the button. Zukernik paired his ten on the river of the board, but it was too little too late and his tournament ended.
The blinds had increased to 1,500,000/3,000,000/300,000a by the time the fifth place finisher was decided. Gofman raised to 6,000,000 and then instantly called when Leonid Logunov moved all-in for 39,000,000. Logunov turned over [Jj] but that hand was in a whole world of trouble against the in the hand of Gofman. A few moments later, the board was complete and Logunov was gone.
Anatoliy Zyrin was the next to fall, his short stack shove with losing to Laka’s dominating courtesy of the latter’s king-kicker, then heads-up was set during the 2,500,000/5,000,000/500,000a level when Laka raised to 10,000,000, Gofman called and Aleksandr Merzhvinskiy moved all-in for 139,000,000. Laka folded but Gofman called.
It was for Merzhvinskiy and for Gofman. A fives friendly board ran out and Merzhvinskiy was eliminated in third place.
Gofman led going into heads-up but relinquished his lead to Laka in the opening exchanges. Gofman then made a superb call with ace-high when Laka bluffed to put the ball firmly in his court and he ran out a winner soon after.
The final hand saw Gofmann make it 12,500,000 with and Laka called with . The flop fell [3x], Laka checked, Gofman bet 15,000,000, Laka check-raised to 45,000,000 and Gofman called. On the turn, Laka bet 45,000,000, Gofman moved all-in and Laka made the call. A on the river completed the community cards, bust Laka in second place and left a delighted Gofman to be crowned partpoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia champion.
