  • Prize pool: $750,000

Team Online’s Jaime “jaimestaples” Staples secured the largest online poker tournament cash of his career on Day 1 of KO Series. Staples was streaming his play on his popular Twitch channel and put together a deep run in the $2,100 KO Series #03-HR: $750K Gtd 8-Max event.

The Canadian was guaranteed at least $8,015 plus his bounty payments by the time the eight-handed final table was reached. This prize increased when “Doggidog” busted in eighth-place.

“PhatToad” was the next to fall, their seventh-place ext netting them $10,988 plus an impressive $15,782 worth of bounties. “NowNowNow” then busted in sixth-place for $15,815 plus $11,172 to ensure Staples would win his biggest online cash.

Then came a sick hand to send Staples to the rail. With blinds of 50,000/100,000/12,500a, “WorshipMe_7” moved all in from the button for 6,211,492. Staples called off his 2,716,076 stack from the small blind with and the big blind folded. WorshipMe_7 turned over and Staples looked set for a double-up. That was until the board ran to improve WorshipMe_7 to an unlikely straight, resigning Staples to a $21,31 prize boosted by $13,945 from the bounty prize pool.

Staples can take some comfort in the fact Worship_Me7 put his chips to good use, eventually winning the tournament for $60,371 and $69,154 worth of bounties.

WorshipMe_7 defeated “Nicky_Larson90” heads-up for the title after “DonDaLong” and “Bijzettafel” crashed out in fourth and third-place respectively.
