When the schedule for the $20 million guaranteed Powerfest series was being created the partypoker team put forward a suggestion that, it is fair to say, raised a few eyebrows.
We wanted to run a Super High Roller tournament with a $25,500 buy-in, where all of the registration fees were donated to charity, and where partypoker would donate $50,000 to charity if the tournament attracted at least 100 entries. Oh, and we wanted it to have a $2 million guaranteed prize pool. We thought it was possible to create such a beast, so that is exactly what we did and the $25,500 Super High Roller Powerfest event was born.
Our faith in the high stakes community supporting this spectacular tournament was well placed because not only was the ambitious $2 million guarantee hit, it was blown to smithereens when 99 unique players bought in and purchased 30 re-entries between them, taking the total attendance to an impressive 129. The mathematicians among you will have figured out this meant the prize pool, which was shared among the top 20 finishers, weighed in at a colossal $3,225,000.
A handful of partypoker diamonds were in the field, including Dusk Till Dawn owner Rob Yong (he bust three times before the money), Roberto Romenello (25th) and Dzmitry Urbanovich (30th after qualifying late via a $1,000 satellite).
The final player to walk away empty handed, their partypoker account relieved of $25,500, was “eet_smakelijk” who bust in 21st place to lock up a $49,987 score for anyone who had chips in front of them. By the time the eight-handed final table was reached, the least amount of money the finalists would walk away with was a cool $96,750.
Super High Roller payouts
This was the sum that Team partypoker’s Sam Trickett walked away with after falling in eighth-place. Trickett exited during the 16,000/32,000/3,200 level when a preflop raising war resulted in him being all-in with 
against the 
of “dbec077.” An ace on the flop of the 
board was enough to end Trickett’s tremendous run.
Thanks to the “Trickett Giveaway” promotion that we have been running on Twitter, 30, yes 30, of our followers each won 1% of Trickett’s winnings and will receive $967.50 into their partypoker accounts.
Trickett was followed to the sidelines by “limitless” (seventh for $121,905) and “NoobStalker” (sixth for $153,187) before the last remaining Team partypoker member fell by the wayside in fifth-place.
Brazil’s Joao Simao managed to navigate his way to fifth-place before he ran out of steam and luck. Although disappointed not to be crowned the tournament’s champion, the $193,500 Simao collected for his impressive run will have helped to numb the pain of coming so close to the title.
Simao can count himself unlucky to bust because his 
lost to the 
of “Chelsea72” when our Brazilian star moved all-in for approximately 10-big blinds and Chelsea72 called from the big blind. By the river the board read 
and Simao was gone.
“barrm111” secured a $274,125 payday when they fell in fourth-place before “dbec077” was eliminated in third-place for a gargantuan score of $387,000.
With only two players remaining and a massive $1,273,552 of the prize pool still up for grabs, “Chelsea72” and “juanpardo99” decided to strike a deal to make the pay jumps shallower. The heads-up duo agreed to a deal that saw Chelsea72 win $613,485 and juanpardo99 walked away with $660,067.
This huge tournament has helped the total prize money awarded during this latest Powerfest increase to an almost unbelievable $17,115,002 and there are almost 100 events still to play between May 17-21! Thank you, as ever, for your fantastic support.
