The 2021 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS North Cyprus Main Event started with 839 hopefuls gunning for glory, but only nine of those starters remain in contention for the $683,285 top prize. Gioriy Skhulukhiya of Georgia is the man in the envious position of chip leader going into the nine-handed final table, which you can watch via our Twitch channel on September 27.

Day 2 began with 109 players returning to their seats at the five-star Merit Crystal Cove Hotel Casino & Spa, and only 98 of those players received a slice of the $3,859,400 prize pool.

Umit Sadi was the unfortunate soul who finished in 99th place, bursting the bubble. Harpreet Gill min-raised to 50,000 with , Zorlu Er called on the button with , and Sadi shoved for 121,000 from the big blind with . Gill called, but Er folded. The five community cards fell busting Sadi on the stone cold bubble.

Dozens of players followed Sadi to the rail over the course of several hours. Such luminaries as Dmitry Gromov, Viktor Ustimov, Artur Martirosian, Martin Mulsow, Johan Guilbert, Vlad Darie, and Dominik Panka crashed out in the money places.

The final table was set when Team partypoker’s Joni Jouhkimainen saw his tournament end abruptly in tenth. Jouhkimainen opened to 2,500,000 at the 125,000/250,000/250,000a level, leaving himself less than a big blind behind. Only Skhulukhiya called. Jouhkimainen’s last few chips went in on the flop and Skhulukhiya obviously called. It was for our hero and for Skhulukhiya. Neither the turn nor river were of any help to Jouhkimainen, and he fell in tenth place for $50,560.

Skhulukhiya goes into the final table as the chip leader courtesy of his 17,990,000 stack. Skhulukhiya plays the majority of his live poker in Russia, but his two best results have both happened at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel Casino & Spa. In September 2019, Skhulukhiya won a $10,000 High Roller event for a career-best $225,000. He won a $5,000 event in January 2020 for an additional $220,643. Finishing fourth of better today sees Skhulukhiya walk away with another career high.

He may hold the chip lead going into the final table but Skhulukhiya will not have matters his own way, that is certain. Harpreet Gill has 16,820,000 chips in his arsenal and, therefore, a legitimate chance of glory. Gill’s best live score tips the scales at $217,860, so like Skhulukhiya, finishing fourth or better means he has a new best prize.

Two other players return to the action armed with eight-figure stacks. Majid Kamarei, who is flying the flag for Iran, sits down with 12,180,000 chips, while Lebanon’s Hadi Khadra occupies fourth place right now with 11,375,000 chips.

Each of the finalists has reached the final table on merit and are worthy of the $68,695 that they have each guaranteed. Do not write off any of their chances, not even those of Robert Heidorn and Vytaustas Semaska despite them having 12 and 10 big blinds respectively.
