Simon Brandstrom continued his incredible 2019 by taking down the $1.5 million guaranteed WPT UK Main Event for $330,000.
Brandstrom finished second in the WPTDeepStacks Barcelona Main Event in March for €187,880 and won the European Poker Tour Barcelona Main Event in August for a career-best €1,290,166. Now the Swede has a World Poker Tour title on his CV and an additional $330,000 in winnings.

The 690 entrants were whittled down to the final table of nine and each of those finalists locked up at least $36,000 for their troubles. Paul Jackson was the first player to bust from the feature table in an ill-timed move. Jackson opened five-times the big blind to 400,000 with and Paul Siddle called in the big blind with .
The flop fell and both players checked. Siddle moved all-in for 1,600,000 on the turn and Jackson called off his last 235,000 chips, drawing dead. The river completed the board and Jackson headed to the cashier’s desk.
Leo Worthington-Leese busted during the next level. He min-raised to 200,000 in the hijack before calling off his last 1,600,000 when Ryan Mandara three-bet all-in for 4,400,000 on the button. Mandara opened and was flipping against the of Worthington-Leese. By the river the board read and Worthington-Leese was gone.
Loeser Loses Out
Twenty minutes later, Manig Loeser was eliminated. A big loss against Brandstrom left Loeser nursing a 75,000 stack with the big blind costing 100,000. Loeser got the last of his chips in with after Brandstrom open-raised with . Siddle called in the big blind with . Both active players checked to the turn where Siddle check-called a 275,000 bet. The river saw Brandstrom lead for 675,000 and Siddle snap-folded. Game over for Loeser.
Siddle was the first player eliminated from the official six-handed final table, doing so on the 36th hand of the action. Siddle was all-in for 25,000 with from under the gun and Matthew Eardley raised to 350,000 with from late position. Mandara came along for the ride with in the big blind and the flop fell . Mandra check-called a 125,000 bet from Eardley before both players checked the turn. Mandara bet 290,000 on the river and was called.
Eardley won the pot with the bigger full house and Siddle crashed out in sixth-place.
Next to fall was Maria Lampropulos who won the MILLIONS UK Main Event for £1 million in April 2017. Lampropulos open-shoved for a shade under eight big blinds with from the cutoff and James Rann made the call with . The dealer fanned the board and Lampropulos’ run came to an abrupt end in fifth-place, a finish good for $98,500.
Mandara Straightens Out Eardley
Four-handed play ended on the 93rd hand of the six-handed final table and it was Eardley who ran out of chips. With blinds 100,000/200,000/200,000a, Mandara opened to 450,000 with before calling the 1,700,000 shove from Eardley from the small blind. Eardley’s was way ahead, but Mandara improved to a straight with the five community cards running .
Rann ran out of luck on the 129th hand. Rann jammed for a little under 19 big blinds from the small blind with and Mandara instantly called with pocket sevens. A final board reading sealed the deal for Mandara and busted Rann in third-place.
It only needed seven hands for Brandstrom to come from behind and claim the WPT UK Main Event title. On the 136th hand, Mandra raised to 650,000 with and Brandstrom called with . Brandstrom check-called a 550,000 bet on a flop. Brandstrom check-called a 1,600,000 bet on the turn. The river was the . Brandstrom checked, Mandara tanked before moving all-in for 7,500,000 into the 5,500,000 pot. Twenty-seconds is all it took for Brandstrom to call with his two pair, busting Mandara who was running a bluff.
