Poker for the Homeless is back at Grand Prix Killarney

Poker for the Homeless is an Irish fundraising organisation that is dedicated to raising money for homeless charities around Ireland. After a four-year hiatus, Poker for the Homeless is set to return during the partypoker LIVE Grand Prix Killarney festival.

The €100+€20 buy-in charity tournament shuffles up and deals at 4:00 p.m. on September 10 at the Gleneagles Hotel in Killarney and sees players sit down with 10,000 chips and play to blinds that increase every 20-minutes. Late registration is available until 6:15 p.m. and until this time players can purchase 10,000-chip rebuys for €50.

Northern/Celtic Poker and The Cue Club, the tournament’s organisers, have promised to donate the €20 registration fee from each buy-in, while partypoker is set to match all rebuy and add-on fees. Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin will receive two-thirds of the monies raised, with Pieta House and the Suicide and Self-Harm Crisis Centre receiving one-third.

partypoker ambassador Padraig Parkinson is also an ambassador for Poker for the Homeless and he said: “Poker for the Homeless has been without a roof over its head for four years and we’re delighted to have finally found it a home again at Grand Prix Killarney.

“We all know the toll the recession has taken on Ireland and the housing crisis has added further to the problems the most vulnerable in society are facing.

“Over the last decade the Irish poker community, with the help of our many generous friends from abroad, has raised almost €250,000 for Irish homeless causes and we’ll pull together again to show our support for the amazing work these charities do on the frontline, day-in, day-out, giving desperate people hope.”

Grand Prix Killarney runs from September 7-10 and features a €300,000 guaranteed prize pool for only a €340 buy-in.
